THE DUALITY & POLITICS OF PREGNANCY: On the one hand, Ive entered a new part of the reproductive justice community, am meeting more amazing women & learning to challenge the healthcare system in ways that even a hospital union organizer of 10 yrs couldnt imagine. Its intellectually stimulating & beautiful. On the other hand, pregnancy also illuminates the capitalist culture of consumption - food & goods, competition, & woman v. woman hating that I didnt expect to face here. According to other activist mamas that have been my rocks (thanks Elisa & Lalee Vicedo-Quijada!), this is just the beginning. New struggles emerge from new life conditions, apparently. Looking forward to this political arena regardless (as the little one karate kicks me)! #21weeks #PregnantNotPowerless
