THE ENEMIES OF CHANGE Texts: Romans 7:19 The world system is one of the leading enemies of the church. The church which was sent to rescue the perishing world has suddenly joined forces with the world, teeming against the standard of the LORD. The church now copies the pattern of the world – its dressing, style, and passion. Church programs now host the world’s stars and celebrities. The worldly pattern of music has now been adopted by the church. This romance is typical of that between light and darkness which God clearly frowns at. Today on SPIRIT SWORD as we round off on the subject of change, we highlight some enemies of change. The truth is that anything that is an obstacle to change in your life, the same is an enemy of your eternity. That thing that stops you from changing is stopping you from Heaven. (1) WRONG AND FALSE CHURCH DOCTRINES It is not everywhere there is a cross of Christ that there is the blood of Christ. It is not everywhere that God is mentioned that God dwells. Many people have innocently looked for help on how to live righteously but ended up in places where what matters is not their hearts but their hands – how much money can flow in and out of their hands. They never hear the truth about holiness and Heaven, but are only told the secrets to success and prosperity. They end up gaining the whole world but their souls are at risk of eternal damnation in hell. There are many who had previously been convicted by God about certain sins but they enter churches and prayer houses where they are told “all is well; God is a God of love”, but never told the other side of God – judgment and consuming fire. By this, many are at ease in zion and sinners are comfortable in church. (2) WRONG ASSOCIATIONS AND LOCATIONS There are people who will follow friends to hell. These are people whose lives are driven by negative associations and relationships. Many people want to change and turn away from fornication, but they want to keep their partners in iniquity. It cannot work. More so, there are places you should not go if you want to sustain change. If you don’t stop, they will stop you. (3) THE PAST It is difficult to make progress into the future when you remain attached to the past. There are people whose Heaven is at risk and they are heading towards hell because they have refused to let go of the past, forgive and move on. Their lives are remote-controlled by events of the past – their past relationships, past encounters, past failures, past addictions, etc (4) LOVE FOR THE WORLD The love for the world – fashion, fame, money, power, etc; these are among the reasons many have turned their backs away from God. Some prefer to have money than to have God. Some have embrace eternity in hell fire because of celebrity status on earth. PRACTICAL REFLECTION: Are you struggling to live a genuinely changed life? What is holding you back? Do you need spiritual help?
