THE EVIL BEHIND FOLLOWING SCHOLARS BLINDLY All praise is due to the Lord of every creature dead or alive and We beseech His peace and blessings upon the best of all mankind. Islaam is very simple if practised according to Islamic rulings laid down by the prophet. However Allaah and His prophet had guided us to the manner in which we are meant to act as muslims regarding our Ahimma (Leaders) in the deen. Allaah said in the Quran that: And obey Allaah and Obey the prophet and those who are rulers over you; So if you are in dispute over a matter; bring it forth to Allaah (the Quran) and His Messenger(the sunnah)..... Scholars of tafseer like At-tobari said: Allaah commanded obedience to leaders upon matters of the deen so as long as they are in line with the rulings of the shareea. Allaah then said: When a dispute occurs upon a matter and you do not know how to go about it; do not burden yourselves; simply take the evidences(solut ion) to those matters from His book(Al-Quran) and the sunnah. Allaah never guided the ummah to take adilla(evidence s) upon matters from the scholars because Allaah knows they would simply misguide the ummah if they are to also use their own raay(ideology) while the Quran and sunnah has explained such matter! So Allaah said: Only from kitaab and sunnah! This makes us understand that there will definitely no excuse for misguidance on the day of Qiyaama as Allaah said in suuratu Nnajm that: And no soul shall bear the deeds of the other soul. Every soul is entitled to be queried upon their deen. That is why Allaah too said: Take your daleel from Allaah Himself(The Quran) and Sunnah of His prophet because he is masuum; he cant make mistakes as he ia upon haqq from His Lord. So he is not like the scholars who are just to employ the adilla from Allaah and His prophet to guide the ummah. We as muslims must be very careful regarding following scholars blindly. Imaam Aabideen said: It is not permissible for anyone to follow our words in which he does not know where we found statements of ours(in the kitaaba and sunnah). Are many of muslims of today like this? No! Rather they are quick to take what a shaykh said and act upon it! They would even go ahead to start praising and hailing upon baatil! Alloohul mustaaan. Imaam Moolik bm Anas said while himself, Abuu Haneefah, Imaam Shaafee and Imaam Ahmad were are Madeenah bijwaari Qobri Rosuulillaah(be side the grave of the prophet) that: There is none amongst us(scholars) except that the ummah shall take from our statements or refute some except the soohibu of this Qobr(the owner of this Qobr). So no-one should start quoting any of the scholars upon an established act in the shareea. A very common of this act amongst some of those who are muqollidoons is that: When you correct them that the hands must held with the right over the left after the takbeerotul ihroom.(akadha faala rosuulillaah!). They would respond saying: But Imaam Moolik dropped his hands; and this is not true of Imaams act during solaat! Then this makes us realize how important the statement of abuu haneefa and Imaam shaafee is when they both said: When a hadeeth is found to be authentic; this is my madhhab(my opinion; even after my demise). So no one should come out to say: but one Imaam says! Which Imaam said when Allaah aand His prophet had spoken. And Allaah says: It is not permissible for a muslim male or female to have an option towards Allaah and His prophets orders; and whosoever disobeys Allaah and His prophet is upon a plain misguidance. May Allaah rectify the ummah.
