THE EXAMPLE BIBLE THOUGHT: John 13:15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Whenever Asandian cooked a roast, she always cut off the end. She had always done it that way, because her mom had done it that way. Thinking about it one day, she realized she didnt understand the purpose for cutting off the end of the roast, so she asked her mother. Her mother didnt have an answer. She had done it because her mother had always done it. Together the two went to the grandmother to find out the reason. I had to cut off the end of the roast because I didnt have a large enough pan to fit it in, she responded. Two women had followed the example of another, not really knowing why. Like Jesus has set an example for you, His follower, to do. This doing does not just refer to washing each others feet (or having a spirit of humility), but praying for others, serving others by lifting burdens and helping with genuine needs, encouraging others, and leading others to salvation. All are an example of what Jesus did for you. THOUGHT FOR TODAY: You do not follow an example without explanation, but an example that leads to blessing and reward in heaven and on earth.
