THE FLYNNER FILES. This morning, I am going to discuss a few things in relation to Jose Manuel Barrossos visit. I attended the protests outside UCC yesterday evening. And I turned out to be the last one to leave. Yes, the AAA made a few noisy chants (I did better at the Intermediate Final Celebrations at TP Cotters in October 2010 mind!) before leaving by 18:20 hrs. Turning towards the entrance, I stood for a bit until the heavy duty security for the visit of the most powerful reps in Europe came up to me. And we ended up having a friendly chat, myself and that ONE Garda Sergent! He was more interested in seeing those faux democrats getting out of here so he could go home to his family, and a very genuinely nice bloke he was. Totally on my side on everything. I only left when driving rain would not allow me stay any longer. More like an episode of Mattie. Because how scared were the hundreds of thousands of people in this country, whom Jose among others screwed, in standing up to this plonker? A parnell episode can be told (& I was meaning to tell ye all this) was when I was going home on the GoBe Express from the first leg of the Cork V Clare Hurling Final in Croker last September. Three bozo thugs in their mid 40s came up and down only to get drunk and act the bowzies with no interest in getting tickets. By the time we got to Cahir turnoff, they began intimidating the passengers, many being elderly and children, but sat on board, quietly tolerating them, then they started on the driver. The driver stopped the bus, and threw them off, then rang the guards, who came an hour later. Angry, I got out and confronted these thugs. They turned out to be too afraid to strike me in the end, but when the driver told me to get back on (which I did), most of the passengers told me to sit down. I then turned my language on them; they were just as bad as these yobs, because why did they not all stand up to them when they were put under threat - sure they could sue these yobs if they were struck. Barrosso or bowzies, we Irish are just a meek race who just get on with things, letting things all go as soon as there is cast flooding in, and behind these pictures - some which I saw on Facebook - of people being friendly, lighthearted, open-minded, having a laugh....... there is the element of people who could close the door on you and go around in intrique against you until you are crushed........or worse. Which is sad. With the boom, not only have we Irish sold off our value of this island to the spivs of Europe, we have sold off something very important about our sense of humanity off as well, all because we took it for granted, and now it is gone, it can never be replaced. Well it can, if we got up and REALLY stand up to these people, namely the Eurocrats, like other European countries did. If we did so, we may learn to be a nicer and more considerate people to one another, and we certainly would not have drunken thugs learning how things can be done! That said, I am proud that I scored a major tactical victory that night, against our friend from Brussels. At least I did put in the effort, and a bigger one than these agitators in the AAA. Jose must be thinking about what the Sarge told him (maybe), the poor guards must have really be thinking policing this island is a bit of a joke if this is the way the country has gone!! Talk to ya soon!
