I am but compel to put my pen to paper at this point in time in response to the political madness being displayed by some rascal anti-intellectuals who have been taking advantage of some naïve individuals to frustrate the efforts of the students’ union excos using the façade of ideological group. For those of us that are familiar with the history of the students’ union will attest to the fact that any union administration that has none of the ‘ideological robots’ at the helms of affairs and do not align with their destructive agenda will definitely experience/face unhealthy criticism via spreading of untrue story/propaganda about that administration in a bid to building hatred in the minds of the students towards their duly elected leaders. That someone do not align with your ideology of ‘’scatter everything immediately’’ do not make him/her a management agent because civility is not a sign of weakness. These pseudo progressives who constitute themselves into a destructive opposition invest a lot in writing poisoned releases just because they want to bring down a particular union administration. Why can’t they channel their resources for the unity and progress of the students’ structure? Most unfortunate is that some naïve students ignorantly joined the crowd thereby aiding these accidental elements to perpetrate evil. Martin L.king Jr has this to say ‘’He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who help to perpetrate it. Caution is a message from the educated. We must start to fight against these minority pseudo elements before they turn our dear environment of INTELLECTUAL FIGHTERS FOR EMANCIPATION(IFE) into an unmanageable catastrophe. Why on earth will these elements always take advantage of our dear Awoite to chant ole(thief) on the union leaders without any concrete evidence against them perhaps because they have refused to take actions that will cost us another closure of school which may truncate the aspirations of serious minded students just because of issues that can be settled with patience and diplomacy. first it was propaganda against S.I UNIT, now it is either Ibikunle Mobilizing cultist or Bamidele slapping someone all in the name of maligning their personality and character. My sincere kudos to Ibikunle led administration, an administration that started encountering problem a week after election when our university management wickedly hiked our fees, at a time when they were not supposed to start official administrative duties, at a time when they were supposed to rest and prepare for exams having campaigned tirelessly, at a time they had no union resources at their disposal yet they at their best implemented the struggle with their money and the little gathered from the few freshmen that registered before closure. The union leaders who at the early stage of the struggle started dialoging to avoid truncating academic calendar but were not allowed to that peacefully and conclusively by some students who believed protest is always the answer. They(excos) at the early stage told students not to pay to have a strong bargaining power but finalist defied their directives and started paying under the fear of not getting accommodation and special electives while the union leaders staked their studentship. The union had no choice but to move all out to protest against the hike fees which eventually led to the closure of school. While the union leaders were busy addressing different media outfit during closure, some elements were busy raising different allegations against the union leaders inorder to divide the students but union leaders did all they could to balance the forces despite the level of pressure on them. The union leaders were fighting the management and at the same time faced with propaganda from some unprogressive individuals in the studentry. It got to a point when the majority students started clamoring for resumption and the union leaders had no other choice than to down the struggle to demand for immediate resumption because it was the same students that said they should fight were still the ones that started raining curses inorder to get the union leaders to demand for immediate resumption. Eventually, students resumed with academic activities started immediately and all union excos rusticated(for protesting against hike in fee) from the varsity but later pardoned and being placed on probation due to the intervention of the likes of Jimoh Ibrahim(from a reliable source) and some other notable individuals while some other eight students were suspended with the allegation of the abduction of Mr Alabi Abeeb(Electoral Commission Chairman) who was maltreated and dragged from Amphi theatre down to Awolowo hall during the students’ union electioneering process. No student of Ogba-Femi since resumption for once demanded justice on their elected represent who are being placed on probation instead some Lucifer are busy accusing the union leaders for the misfortune of the suspended students. These satanic elements will not regard ibikunle led administration as being heroic neither will they appreciate their effort in the struggle against increment in fee because the leaders did not lose their studentship to it. Let me remind them that there was increment in 2004 and 2011 of which students tried their best to resist it but lost to the university management without any reduction, the union leaders suspended/rusticated and the union was proscribed. At least Ibikunle led administration didn’t get our union proscribed and they achieved some deductions in contrast to the total defeat of 2004 and 2011. I know the people from the left will be quick to say that the union achieved total reversal in 1999 but the reality is that 1999 was a special case because the Nation just transited into a civilian regime when the university increased her fees and the system was not ripe to accommodate students unrest that the FG had to prevail on the management to reverse the fee. The question now should be ‘was there no increment in 2004 and 2011 which are years after 1999’? The simple truth is that Ibikunle and his excos are just lucky because in the history of the school, no matter your level of closeness with the management, you will surely suffer inform of rustication/suspension for getting the university closed down. Ibikunle led administration is just a lucky situation due to the intervention of notable personality. Students should ask Engels and some of the other comrades that were suspended that why did they wrote the recent UTME exam which was before the students’ union election, if not that they know that they will be suspended/rusticated (I trust/know they will disclaim this, lies I know them for and with this they will continue because it is a strong orientation of their ideological organization). They have been facing disciplinary panel of the management before the reinstatement of the students’ union. So why crucify Ibikunle to have caused your misfortune? OLORI and AZARO, I salute your legendary but foolish politicking at the expense of students’ collective interest and unity. History will judge you accordingly for turning our union which is a platform for us to collectively demand for our rights and fight our common enemy into a political party politics where we have the people in power and the main opposition. The truth of the whole issue will naturally activate/revealed itself soonest! The Ambitionist! I salute your method of attracting cheap populism by playing politics with students’ interest just because you want to be popular ahead of next election, you have been playing the ‘saint’ or the ‘perceived progressive’ of the Animal Kingdom where some animals believed they are better than others but are not, you have been peddling around megaphone and engaging in activities to destroy and attribute this union administration to failure while using that opportunity to campaign for various position. Akande Omotayo, Emmanuel Kant, Bright and Co, your ambition might lead to your destruction if you don’t watch it. It certainly will! Awoites! If truly Awo hall is being occupied by intellectuals as you have always claim, you should always recycle and analyze whatever rumor is being peddled around and not just join the ideological robots in acting irrationally. You vandalized, destroy and you injured .it is highly sardonic that in Hall of supposed intellectual will only react on false one sided story and not listen to their duly elected leaders to have a balanced story for a dialectical matching. Awoites! Your reasoning is being soiled/played by these ideological zombies. I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality.
