THE FUTILITY OF TRYING TO EXPLAIN THE TRINITY It is indeed the height of spiritual pride that makes a man/woman with a finite mind capacity to claim that he exhaustively understands the infinite God. My tutor will liken the futility of the debate on trinity - particularly by fairly knowledgeable christians - to a debate among amoebas about the complexity of man. Imagine an amoeba whose entire body is just one cell - when it needs to excrete, the entire body becomes an anus at the moment, it turns into limbs when movement is required, and a mouth when ingestion is needed. Imagine such unicellular organisms debating & trying to understand how humans exist having different body parts for different functions - they simply cant understand! Amoeba lacks the mental capability to understand man. In the same way, man lacks the mental capability to understand God! Dont try to understand Him with your head - you can only gain an understanding of Him by the faculties of your spirit, and usually, it ends as an incontrovertible inner knowing or truth. Those who have this knowing, usually are not enthusiastic about trying to explain or defend it - that will amount to trying to explain joy. You know when you have joy, but the moment you can explain it, then what you have is happiness.
