THE GABROVO ANECDOTES IN JAPANESE A couple of days ago the House of Humour and Satire received several copies of a recently published book of celebrated Gabrovo anecdotes and funny stories in Japanese language. The publication was initiated and translated by CHIHARU NAKAMURA, Professor Emeritus of Kobe University - a great friend and fan of Bulgaria whose interest in the Gabrovo verbal folklore hasnt waned for a quarter of a century. According to the introduction made by the compiler and translator, the publication unravels a rich culture of humour in addition to the famous yogurt and the rose perfume in Bulgaria. The data so far holds that the Gabrovo anecdotes, alias Gabrovo gospel, have undergone 47 editions in 25 languages, but their appearance in the language spoken in the Country of the Rising Sun is an inspiring act of friendship that throws yet another cultural bridge between Bulgaria and Japan.
