THE GARY SIMMERMAN ROAST AND TOAST ON JAN. 30 WILL MARK HIS 80 YEARS OF LIFE, FUN, AND ACHIEVEMENTS WITH A PANEL OF HIS FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES SHARING GOOD-HEARTED LAUGHTER AND HAPPY MEMORIES One of the first big community events of 2015, the Roast and Toast of Gary F. Simmerman, will be held on Friday, January 30 at Centerton Country Club with cocktails at 5:30 PM and dinner and the roast at 6:30 PM. It is presented by and will benefit two organizations that Gary has been involved with for over 40 years -- Bridgeton Rotary Lunch Club and Bridgeton Area Chamber of Commerce. While this special night will honor one of Cumberland County’s most respected and successful business, government and community leaders, it will not be your normal, formal recognition event as the night will include a look at the fun-filled stories, memories and events of Gary – a man who is admired as much for his willingness to have fun and enjoy life with a down to earth sense of humor as for his more serious achievements. The Platinum Sponsor for the event is South Jersey Water Conditioning Service, owned by Dave Wilson, one of Gary’s closest friends. “I have seen for myself and shared many happy and funny times with my friend Gary for as hard as he has worked and as much as he has achieved, he also made it a point to make time for fun with his friends and colleagues,” said Dave Wilson. “I look forward to sharing some great memories, stories and photos at the Roast and I am sure Gary will be ready to return the favor to all of the roasters,” he concluded with a smile. The Master of Ceremonies will be William Whelan with the following people as roasters: Dave Wilson, Marvin Padgett, Robin Weinstein, Bruno Basile, Ed Salmon, and Greg Facemyer. All of the roasters have been long-time friends and community leaders with Gary and they will share many laughs and stories from his political years from the Democratic Party and Republican Party, his years on the South Jersey Hospital (Inspira) Board, golfing trips, Bridgeton Rotary Club, Bridgeton Area Chamber, church, community, government, United Jersey Bank / Cumberland National Bank and more. Entertainment will be provided during the cocktail hour by the Cumberland County College Music Department. Bill Whelan said, “this is a great opportunity for Gary’s friends from the Cumberland National, United Jersey and Summit Bank days and colleagues from other area banks to get together to thank and honor Gary and to re-kindle old friendships and memories from the banking days of the 1970’s and other decades.” If anyone has photos they would like to share of Gary, please share them on the Gary Simmerman Roast and Toast Facebook page or send them to bacc@baccnj. Tickets are $60 per person and may be purchased in advance by contacting Jody Hirata (609-247-3003), Carol Musso (856-451-3300 ext. #1101) or Tony Stanzione at the Bridgeton Area Chamber of Commerce (856-455-1312). They may also be purchased from Chamber Board members, Rotary Club members and roasters. You may also visit baccnj/RoastandToast for information.
