THE GRACE OF A COLD---Ive had a debilitating sinus illness for two days that took me to bed. These things are always scary for me because I do not know how my immune system is going to respond. I drank ginger tea and ate miso. I neti potted. I tried not to fret. And last night I felt the tide turn. I slept through the night. And this morning I feel 90 percent better!! My immune system is working! I also realize I had made lemons out of lemonade while I was down: For months I have been needing to do more research into my ongoing health recovery. I was keeping things held back with the lifestyle changes I had made. Now it was time to take the next steps. But I was overwhelmed and inundated with advice and information, so unsure which way to go and feeling I didnt have the hours of time it would require to sort through everything. The last two days then, I had the time to sort through and dissect this massive collection of info gathering dust in various notepads, emails and books. I watched videos and films, including Forks Over Knives and anything by Kris Carr. I even attended a webinar that happened to be yesterday. I sorted through all the bits of information I had been collecting and began to formulate a new plan. (Which I will share soon.) Today, I actually find myself grateful for the sinus illness. Not only did I come up with a new set of goals, but I tested my immune system and emerged a winner. The world is always going to be dark. I felt great despair about Jim Foley. I can sometimes feel quite desperate about my health. But the darker it is, if we are paying attention to what the darkness is teaching us, the brighter will be the light when we step out the other side of the tunnel. I know this to be true. Remembering this while in the dark is the great challenge, of course. It is the greatest challenge of all.
