THE GRAMMY’S. I AM NOT SURPRISED! I didn’t watch the Grammy’s last night. But I am sure some of you did. I have heard of Macklemore, I don’t know his music. But I am sure some of you do. He beat out Kendrick Lamar for the best rap album. I am not surprised and here is why. 1. 1986/87 the beasty boys dropped their debut album titled LISCENSED TO ILL. Even though it was a rap album, it was laden ...with heavy metal guitar riffs. They were attached to RUN-DMC in order to gain popularity. 2. 1990-93. Vanilla Ice had his hit(ice-ice baby),3rd Bass (the gas face) and House of pain with their smash hit(JUMP AROUND). SIDE NOTE: These groups were not able to dominate the hip-hop scene because there were groups like-PUBLIC ENEMY-XCLAN-KRS 1-ERIC B AND RAKIM- BIG DADDY KANE among others. They all had different styles but their music made the black community THINK! The music industry doesn’t want us to think so these groups were downplayed and taken off the radar. 3. Early 2001/2002 Marshall Mathers –Eminem-Slim Shady took the hip-hop world by storm. He had huge success and he is still enjoying that success to this day. 4. Fast forward to 2013/2014. Now there is MACKLEMORE. A rapper that is clean cut, he is liked by the parents of white children and he doesn’t look like a fool on stage. Of course we have rappers such as KENDRICK LAMAR and IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE but again these rappers make you think and the music industry can’t have that. 5. Do you see a pattern here? Every 5 to 10 years the music industry will promote a white rapper/rap group in order to test the rap game. They have been desiring a great white hope in hip-hop for over 20 years. This time they found the winning formula. They will always support their own. But not us! Instead they would have us follow rappers that wear sagging jeans, skinny nut hugging jeans, jailhouse tattoos, gold grills, dress wearing, make up wearing clowns that promote BUFFOONERY in general. Mackelmore will soon be the face of rap music. I guess you can call him the TOM BRADY of rap. If you bought any of his music, went to one of his shows or found some other way to put YOUR money into HIS pockets then you are the reason why he won the Grammy for best rap album last night. I say again. I AM NOT SURPRISED.
