THE HAWAII-ALEUTIAN TIME ZONE Hawaii–Aleutian Standard Time (HAST) is ten hours behind Greenwich Mean Time and is observed for about 4 months a year in the Hawaii–Aleutian Time Zone of North America. It begins on the first Sunday in November when clocks are moved back from 2:00 A.M. HADT to 1:00 A.M. HAST and ends on the second Sunday in March, when clocks are advanced from 2:00 A.M. HAST to 3:00 A.M. HADT. Only the Aleutian Islands of Alaska observe daylight saving time in this time zone, as Hawaii observes standard time all year round. French Polynesia and the Cook Islands are in the same time zone and also observe standard time all year round but these areas are located in the southern hemisphere where the seasons are opposite and thus cannot opt to follow North American DST policies.
