THE HISTORY OF BOULEVARD DRINKS.... Had the best dogs in the world yesterday with a cold orangeade. While I was there I spoke to the owners son and he told me the story. In 1960 his father was a customer for many years and stopped in for lunch. He overheard the owner telling a customer that he found out that his wife who was working there had been skimming money for years and he was going to divorce her but first was going to sell the store out from under her. He had opened up the store in 1937 and now had enough finding out about her skimming. His father told him he would buy it right now from him and they struck a deal and he bought it in 1960. He ran the store and brought his son into the business and retired in 2005 and handed the store over to his son and retired to Naples Florida. As an afterthought, his son told me that a few years after his father moved to Naples a new neighbor moved in and when he saw him he couldnt believe it. It was the garbage man who had been picking up all the garbage in front of the store all the years he had been there. LOL Now were going to the Brownstone Diner for breakfast and see what tidbits I can pickup there. :)
