THE IMPORTANCE OF KNOWING GOD Jeremiah 24:7 " I will give them a heart to know me , for I am the LORD, and they shall be my people and I will be their God , for they will return to me with all your heart. " This verse marks guidance for His people and for the church in this time. Knowing God involves an intimate and personal relationship, knowing God can only be a change in the person, Jesus said, " This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God " John.17 : 3, there is no salvation in intellect , Paul says that with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation Romans 10:10 . I want to mention two things what is to know God? , And How I can know God? I. WHAT IS KNOWS GOD? A. know God is not an intellectual matter, nor is it synonymous with knowing 1. Can know all theology, but with an empty heart 2 . May have a praise, but no worship 3 . Know God, is to surrender unconditionally to Him (Romans 12:1 ) 4. Knowing God is essential to be saved (John 17:3 ) B. profess a religion, does not know God 1. Purpose religion keeps us from knowing God ( Isaiah 1:13-15 ) 2 . God calls his people to come into his courts with praise and rejoicing ( Matt. 7:22) 3. God demands a spiritual, not a liturgical relationship (Isaiah 29:13 ) II. HOW CAN I KNOW GOD ? A. know through the word (John 17:8 ) 1. not only intellectual knowledge but with the soul, spirit and heart (Acts 4:12) 2 . When you know, comes into our lives to make abode ( John 14:23 ) B. I know through prayer 1. permanent communion with God ( 1 Thessalonians . 5:17) Two . with an attitude of gratitude ( Colossians 4:2 ) C. know him through Christ 1. is the image of the invisible God ( Colosenses. 1:15) 2 . Christ has made known ( John 1:18 ) 3 . He who has the Son has the Father ( Matt. 11:27) Conclusion Knowing God involves a constant and permanent , is not an activity for religious purposes is a convincing attitude .
