THE INDIVIDUAL BECOMES BIGGER THAN THE PROGRAM Less and less, year in and year out, most tennis programs weaken because the tennis parent thinks they can figure the developmental pathway to have their child go from point A to point B. A smaller and smaller percentage of players stay the course and have longevity with a coach/program. Players.... sometimes dont really want to get better. They want to hit with better players and just think they are better. Often they are just banging balls with a bigger kid who really isnt all that good anyway. Tennis parents.... sometimes dont really understand the process. They fall victim to the myth, if my child hits with better players my child will become better. This scenario creates an artificial high for the player and false assurance for the parent. Then when tournament time rolls around the holes in ones game are still there, as large as ever.
