THE INFLUX OF PDP CONTESTANTS IN MY STATE. 2 It is true that Dankwambo have succeeded in abolishing political dictatorship in the ruling party by encouraging internal democracy to play its role, all in an attempt to create a level playing ground for all eligible party members to showcase their popularity and acceptability to garner support for themselves. It is also on record that Dankwambo have no anointed nor shows any interest to support a particular candidate in whatever elective position, unlike in the past that even the first lady can beat her chest and say this is my boy that will contest for a particular position; quite undemocratic and totally against our norms and culture in this part of Nigeria. By saying His Excellencys failure or inability to effectively handle political issues the Nigerian way, in my first episode, I summarily want to highlight in just 3 points as follows:- 1- His lack of enthusiasm and determination, or collectively lackadaisical attitude, towards political activities:— Ones you are leading a state as an elected governor, the Nigerian way entails not only your vigilance or complete supervision but also your spearheading and participation in any political activity be it appointment into whatever appointive office or other necessities associated with politics and politicking therewith, never allowed anybody or group to do it for you, make sure that you are part and parcel of everything politically no matter your level of commitments since you have accepted the trust of your peoples. The consequences of His Excellencys failure to be the political C in C is among the reasons of the now influx of contestants in PDP, a mere of two or three people will just wake up and ask someone to buy nomination form because of the way and manner His Excellency abandoned the political activities for them to handle without boundary. 2- His failure to politically stratify, coupled with lack of appreciation, between and among his subordinates:— You cannot be an elected governor of a state without fully stratifying between your followers or subordinates, the politics of all are equal in your eyes can be very dangerous as far as Nigerian politics is concern. As necessity, identify those considered as diehard supporters among your political appointees, contractors, ordinary party members and even the non partisan citizens; always give more priority or upper hand to such supporters, the issue of all are equal is politically suicidal, therefore some must be more equal than others to correctly hit the target. Being diehard is nothing but always doing something to promote your course. Another thing is appreciating anybody that is contributing or is known for doing good to other people in your name as his governor in whatever way possible, lack of appreciation is capable of discouraging the very good ones, since they are all equal in your eyes, from doing the good they are known for. Appreciation can be in the form of body language, mentioning, giving more priority and even phone call to signify the presence of your eagle eyes on them, thereby giving them more sense of belonging to continue doing the good for easy political victory. It is quite amazing that peoples without any positive record politically or known for doing anything good are now among those that are buying nomination forms in PDP because of the believe they have that all are equal in the eyes of His Excellency. 2- Complete lack of proactive political measures:— Believe with Babale or not, any attempt to now discuss who and who are suppose to represent PDP as contestants in the next years general election is nothing but a political carryover. If at all PDP is proactive, all these brouhaha would have been history in Gombe state chapter by now. Right from the days of new PDP to the current APC, PDP in Gombe state are always on the defensive politically, with the power of incumbency and resources at your disposal what are you waiting for? Do your things straight away, it will further weaken the opposition than to wait for them and be busy defending yourself afterwards. Let me conclude by saying Dankwambo is not a match to anybody that the opposition party is willing to presents as their gubernatorial candidate due to his outstanding and remarkable performance in transforming Gombe state as even the opposition members themselves appreciates the fact that His Excellency have really performed, but why are they not willing to support him as to continue with the transformation?
