THE ISSUES BEFORE THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. No one needs a degree from Harvard University or a PhD to turn Nigeria around for better. Nigerias problem is simply and squarely CORRUPTION and the one to solve it must be prepared to fight corruption - fight the vested interests who have become billionaires through acts which have humbled a once proud nation. I do not know any billionaire in Nigeria who has attained affluence on the back of just legitimate business. They are either in government or friends of those in government. That explains why $400 of the $500 billion oil revenue ended up in private pockets. Nigeria that produced Wole Soyinka now churns out half baked university graduates who cannot compete internationally. A land where the masses depend on Okada transport also has its airspace polluted by private jets and helicopters. A nation where people live in an endless patches of decaying mud houses is home to sprawling mouthwatering estates of modern houses, the cheapest of those houses selling for as much as half a billion naira. Nigeria where people depend on paraga for medical cure is the home of international patients of world best hospitals, spread across the globe. Simply, it is a land of MASTERS and SLAVES. These are possible because of the unwillingness or inability of the president to rise to the responsibility, to the challenge of personal example and above all to fight the vested interests.
