THE JUDGES CHAMBERS NCAA TOURNAMENT EDITION Kentucky & Connecticut will play in Mondays National Championship game, marking the highest combined seeding of the finalists, an 8 & 7 seed respectably. But the untold story tonight will be how the Kentucky head coach John Calipari once again found a low risk loophole in the NCAA rule book to create an opportunity for his team. Calipari has been linked to alleged shady recruiting while at UMass & Memphis, and while this has nothing to do with recruiting, this should be noted. After Wisconsins Traevom Jackson drew a 3 shot foul with 16 seconds left, the referees went to the scorers table to confirm they made the right call. To this point in the game, Wisconsin hadnt missed a Free Throw all night, & Jackson was 18-20 from the line for the tournament. In the meantime, Calipari blatantly substituted a player and put him on the floor before Jackson was set to shoot the first the 3 free throws. By rule, the sub is not recognized until before the last Free Throw is attempted except if its an injured/disqualified player. The scorers table immediately recognized the deed and buzzed the refs to inform them of the player in question and asked him to return to the bench for the player that was ought there to begin with. Jacksons first free throw rimmed out and set up the GW shot by Aaron Johnson. Now by letter of the law, Calipari did nothing illegal doing this, but it just makes me sick that the media will dissect the shot by Aaron Johnson (in all fairness, that man has ice water in his veins to hit that shot AGAIN) but fail to put the substitution in proper perspective.
