THE LEGEND OF PANDORA By Thomas William Evans The Little Village The blazing sun was shining down on a little village called Lamina. The village was built in the middle of the desert and underneath ran a little river. The village was protected by a wooden wall that was built to stop intruders coming in, a draw bridge that came down over the shallow river and in the middle of the village was a market. Lots of people were standing around the stalls looking to see if they could find anything to buy. Amongst the crowd was a boy, he was twelve years old with blond hair and crystal blue eyes. He wore a torn white shirt and dark blue jeans that had been made in to shorts. The boy went over to one of the stalls looking at all the lovely food; his mouth began to water as if he was eating the food already. The boy looked at the polite old man, who was serving an old wrinkly woman in a long white dress that had brown stains at the bottom. The boy could see that the old man was too busy staring in to the woman’s dark eyes, so he took a loaf of bread and sprinted in to a dark gloomy alley. He looked back to see if the old man saw him but the man was so in love, he didnt notice what had just happened. As the boy ran around the corner he bumped into his sister called Jasmine, who was the boys’ twin. She had long wavy blonde hair, crystal blue eyes and was wearing a pink dress with bright red roses. “Arthur, where have you been, Ive been looking all over for you, Jasmine shouted. I’ve just been looking at the stall, thats all, and I brought mum some bread, replied Arthur. Jasmine looked down at the bread. Youve stolen it, haven’t you? What would mum say if she found out? Well she won’t if you dont tell her; anyway I’m off home now, you coming? The girl looked at the boy with an evil stare. Okay but please dont do it again or else I will tell mother. The twins walked down the long damp alley; halfway through someone was standing in the middle of the alley, watching the twins walking towards them. Jasmine didnt like the look of the person, so she whispered into Arthur’s left ear, Let’s turn around and find another way back home. Jasmines body began to tremble and her heart began to race faster, as they got closer to the shadow. Dont be silly, it’ll be alright, there are two of us. Ill protect you, Arthur whispered. The twins took hold of each other’s hands. They couldnt see much because the person had a robe that covered its face. All they could see were sharp green eyes glaring down at them. Arthur breathed in and then asked in a stern voice, Who are you? I am a friend and I was sent here to tell you something important. The boy shouted, I said who are you and what message! I am Slither from Pandora. Before Slither could carry on, the twins began to laugh and walked past following the path back home. Who is this mysterious Slither? Is it a friend or a foe and what message did Slither want to tell the twins?
