THE LEGISLATIVE ACHIEVEMENTS OF SENATOR IFEANYICHUKWU GODWIN ARARAUME WHILE IN SENATE. In recent time, so many questions have crawled up asking to know the achievements of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume. Yes it is worth knowing that Araraume was one of the outstanding Legislators in the Senate between 1999 and 2007. Araraume was the best Senator amongst his contemporaries from Imo. He recorded the following achievements. 1. He influenced the constitution review committee of the national Assembly to include a recommendation urging the Federal Government to create an additional state for the South - East. 2. He facilitated the rehabilitation of the Okigwe Regional water scheme by the Federal government. 3. He attracted the Okohia-Isiebu-Umuelemai Road. 4. He attracted the Okigwe-Umuelemai-Isinweke - Umuahia Road. 5. The Isiebu Community water scheme. 6. The Isiebu Community Police Station. 7. Transmission lines from Alaoji to Okigwe and provision of transformers ( including MV Transformers ) to many communities in Imo, Abia and South - East. 8. He attracted the NTA Station, Okigwe. 9. The Anara Power Switching Station ( Exchange ). 10. He attracted, through the NDDC, a road from Isinweke to Umuahia with a second bridge across the Imo River. 11. As the Pioneer Vice-Chairman of the Niger Delta Committee, he played a key role in the inclusion of Imo and Abia as the NDDC States. The original bill presented by President Olusegun Obasanjo did not include Imo and Abia. If one can only be truthful to himself without being sentimental, he should know that Araraume has contributed positively towards the development of Imo State through NDDC. The tremendous development in our State today emanating from NDDC S people friendly programs are good enough to credit Senator Ifeanyi Araraume.
