THE LESSONS OF THE TAMBUWAL SAGA Gangsterism Having watched the official video circulating showing how Tambuwal was blockaded at the gate of the National Assembly, I come across with the impression that Tambuwal is a gentle person. However, I am not a very gullible person in any case because benign looking persons could harbour some hidden sadistic sides to themselves. Even Jonathan is also quite benign looking. A benign looking Tambuwal on the day in question was however, surrounded by some very gang-ho vociferous supporters and agents provocateur, who were ready to breakdown the gates of the National Assembly. It was their presence that appeared to obscure the intimidating and gansterised presence of the Nigerian Police Force in full battle ready gear. Thus swirling around Tambuwal were a bunch of gangster styled protagonists for and against. In a typical fashion questions drop and run and answers drop and run after them (Fela Anikulapo Kuti Question Jam Answer for Road) The Issues... Whatever the legal position there has been no official administrative or judicial declaration that Tambuwal is no long a member or Speaker of the House, so why lock him out? Tambuwal was locked out because he himself erred, just like all his protagonists and antagonists including Jonathan continue to err. Thus in discussing his error please take not that it applies to practically all present and past political office holders. Tambuwal became the Speaker of the House on a platter. He was a beneficiary of the conflict first within his own party and then between his party and the opposition parties. In the process he got enough votes both from his party and the opposition to emerge Speaker (contrary to the zoning mechanism they all subscribed to) His emergence can therefore be attributed to providence just like many political office holders. The question is what did he do with the providence? Did he take his providence as good fortune for himself or did he take it as good fortune for the generality of Nigerians. Clearly from day one all he saw was his own good fortune upon, which he capitalised. Just to mention again that this is a trend among Nigerian office holders, including our dear President Jonathan. That is why as soon as an officer holder emerges by what ever means from our midst, whether by merit or luck, by rigging or by popular support, they immediately have one overriding manifesto and that is to perpetuate themselves in power. The actual mandate to use power for the benefit of those who voted them i.e. the rest of us is practically of no consideration and that is why very few of them ends up really well in the eyes of the masses. They only feather their nest and drop some crumbs to as palliatives for the masses. Tambuwal could have ensured that the House made it a priority during his tenure to reform the Nigerian Police Force and stop their culture of impunity and violation of the rights of the ordinary man (which includes himself! After all we are all ordinary when push comes to shove). Instead he regally appropriated the comfort and peace of mind that the Police offered him to insulate him from the turbulence the rest of us have to endure. There are insufficient number of Police men for the country, the Police is not well looked after and they lack security manpower training, equipment and infrastructure but those assigned to Tambuwal would probably number about 24 or more. probably about a dozen to follow him around. Another half a dozen to secure his residence while he is not there and another half a dozen for his offices. Why then should I weep when his security details were removed from him? Ehn!!! Besides his security details, the fear of Boko Haram which the rest us have to contend with especially our brothers in the Northeast, made Tambuwal and the other principal officers of the National Assembly to tighten the already tight security control of the National Assembly complex. The result is that it became now impossible for ordinary Nigerians to reach their elected representatives. It was at this point that those massive gates were erected or reinforced (because they were not visible before. I am sure the Police presence were further increased to protect our servants and representatives! This now leads me to the answer to the question why was Tambuwal locked out? He was locked out because he like 90% of our elected Public Servants are fools! They keep digging these pits all over the place for the ordinary Nigerian to fall into and forget that they themselves are ordinary and that one day will be one day when monkey go go market and im no go return! The very things that they put in place to protect themselves, while harming and depriving the rest of us will one day be used to harm and deprive them too. But we share in the blame too. For we line up behind them in a battle that does not concern us. Jonathonians and Buharists!!! All talking nonsense about how there is nothing better than them since slice bread. We make them see themselves as special and of course treat themselves as special but let it be known ONE DAY WILL BE ONE DAY WEY MONKEY GO GO MARKET AND IM NO GO RETURN!!!
