THE LORD OF ALL And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the pre-eminence. Colossians 1:18 In His humanity, Jesus Christ is the most unique and significant figure of all human history. Compared with other individuals who have impacted our planet, Christ towers above all. Consider the length of time that some of the great philosophers had to teach their knowledge. Socrates had forty years to teach, Plato had fifty, and Aristotle had forty years. Jesus had only three years to teach a group made up of illiterate fishermen, tax collectors, rabble rousers and other people similarly unimpressive pedigree. Yet the influence of Christs life, ministry and message far outweighs the combined 130 years of these three pivotal philosophers. Jesus did not write a book yet some of our worlds greatest literary works have been inspired by His life and teachings. From philosophy to the foundations of human dignity and good governance, the teachings of Christ continue to influence world history. Jesus never painted a picture yet some of the most prized paintings of our world have Him as theme or were inspired by what He taught. His life has inspired great epic movies and earned millions of dollars for some film directors. Jesus wrote no music yet some of the most sublime and moving pieces of music were composed in His honour. His name is still music to the sinners ear and life to those who trust Him. Many have tried to smear Him with innuendoes, discredit Him with falsehood and challenge His relevance, yet through it all, He still stands as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. At the mention of His name, every knee shall bow. Prayer: I worship You, Lord: there is none like You in heaven, on earth and under the earth. Scriptural Reading: Colossians 1:9-18
