THE LORDS WAY “We Propose God Disposes” I. Proverbs 16:1-8-The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord. [Proverbs chapters 10-15 are about man’s relationships with man; while chapters 16-19 are about man’s relationship to, or with God. Proverb 16 teaches us that man comes up with many ideas and schemes, especially in the realm of religion (man proposes), but God does not worry about what we come up with, especially when it comes to living a righteous and holy life before Him (God disposes). 2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits. [A man’s conscience cannot be trusted as its guide, unless that conscience has been enlightened by the Word of God.] 3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. [Our thoughts can only be established, if our faith is solely in Christ and His finished work upon the cross, when our faith is right, the Holy Spirit has the latitude to work mightily in one’s life, hence we can walk after the Spirit. Romans 8:1-2; 11-There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 11 But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.] 4 The Lord hath made all things for Himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. [The bottom line is God’s plan was designed by and for Himself; and the truth of the matter is that the wicked will pay with suffering and torment unless they repent. Sorry folks this is God’s plan and it cannot be changed, because He does not change.] 5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. [One way or the other all sin is birthed out of pride. Pride produces unbelief within an individual. Now despite the proud joining forces, and being rich and powerful, God has promised that they will not go unpunished.] 6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil. [“By mercy and truth iniquity is purged:iniquity/sin is purged/covered/atoned for by mercy and truth; which truly occurred at Calvary. The teaching of this should have a moral impact upon all; it should cause us to fear God and flee/depart/separate from evil.] 7 When a mans ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. [Even though enemies remain enemies, these enemies will realize that God that God is with and for you, and that they cannot bring harm upon you, because God is with you, henceforth they make peace with you, or remain peaceful/non-combative towards you.] 8 Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right. [Little Is Much When God Is In It (a beautiful hymn by the way). When your faith is solely in Christ and His finished work, He promises that He will meet your every need, no matter how little you have materially, or financially; the opposite is true if your faith is in your strength or abilities, or your religious activity, etc. etc…. No matter how much money or material wealth you have, your end will be destruction.] God bless you all Preacher
