THE MAIN ELEMENT IN THE NEW COVENANT IS MAKING THE BELIEVER OBEDIENT SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE COMMANDS OF GOD. [33] But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people (Jeremiah 31:33). The believers sins are forgiven through faith in Jesus; and the righteousness of Jesus is imparted into the believer, when he/she becomes born again. This quality of imparted righteousness from the LORD Jesus makes the believer qualified and ready for the indweling of the Holy Spirit; WHO comes into the believer and circumcises the heart of the believer, by writing the laws of God on the believers heart. The Holy Spirit, therefore, makes the believer obedient susceptible - that is, the believers heart becomes inclined to the doing of the will of God. Thus,, the believer becomes a person whose prime interest is obeying God; and thereby, fulfilling the first and the greatest commandment. [36] Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law? [37] And he said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. [38] This is the greatest and first commandment (Matthew 22:36-38). Now, to love God, is to obey HIS commands, laws and precepts - that is the love of God: [3] For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome (1 John 5:3). Those of you who think through grace you do not have to obey the Bible; you will be sorry one day - because, the LORD will tell you, I do not know you. [21] Not every one who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. [22] On that day many will say to me, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name? [23] And then will I declare to them, I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers (Matthew 7:21-23). You will realize that, you do not have Gods Spirit in you; that is why it is not your prime interest to obey the Bible, and do the WILL of God: [7] For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to Gods law, indeed it cannot; [8] and those who are in the flesh cannot please God (Romans 8:7-8). After we make Jesus our LORD and Savior, we have to show HIM our love by obeying HIM: [15] If you love me, you will keep my commandments (John 14:15). Do you not know that those who have faith in Jesus obey HIM? Do you not know that we are called to the OBEDIENCE THAT COMES AS A RESULT OF OUR FAITH? THE OBEDIENCE THAT COMES FROM FAITH: [5] Through him and for his names sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith (Romans 1:5). THE OBEDIENCE THAT COMES FROM FAITH. So Abraham, our father, became obedient, even onto sacrificing Isaac, because of his faith in the LORD.
