THE MATHEMATICS IN THE PRAYING LIFE OF ELIJAH THE PROPHET OF GOD! 1 kings 18:30-39 And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:32 And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed. 33 And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood. 34 And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time. 35 And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water. 36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word. 37 Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again. 38 Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. 39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God. Elijah took twelve stones(altar) + 1trench (two measure of seed) + wood + one bullock +(four barrels of water x three times) + Prayer of Elijah = Fire of the Lord + The Glory of the Lord. TWELVE STONES IN THE EQUATION! This represented the twelve tribes of the children of Israel and so It shows us that Elijah was interceding for people who had a relationship with God before. 1 kings 18:37 Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again. 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Jeremiah 50:6 My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their resting place. Matthew 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Matthew 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. It is our responsibility to intercede for those who have gone astray as ministers and as standing members in the house of God. It is so strange to hear from those who are still standing confessing that they knew that some people were going to backslide. They even make it a gossip topic. You are all hypocrites and the judgment of God will start in the house of God to deal with such. If you knew that someone was going to backslide, what did you do? Why didn’t you pray for the person? Many pastors preach about backsliders more than they pray for their restoration. They discipline those who go astray but forget to pray for them. God is not pleased with this kind of attitude and it is my prayer that we will change in Jesus name.. JESUS USED PRAYER TO KEEP THOSE THE FATHER HAD GIVEN HIM AND ONLY LOST ONE! Luke 22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. John 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. How come your church has more backsliders than those who have remained? You are not doing much in the area of prayer and God wants you to change. You raise leaders and they keep on leaving your church and instead of praying for them you are busy preaching about them. This is not how the work of God is done. Out of the twelve disciples that Jesus had, he only lost one! How come you are losing all the twelve! Examine yourself. We need men like Elijah to lead the church of God. CALL TO RAISE UP A PRAYING CHURCH! 1 kings 18:32 And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed. Every member of the church must be taught and encouraged to be involved in prayer. Elijah used the twelve stones to build an altar. Do you prayer time in your church? Your must always remember that the Devil will help you to do everything in the church including preaching but will never render any help to praying. A praying church is a threat to the Devil. This is why if you call members of your church to come pray and dance the whole night, the church will be full but when you call them for overnight prayer, if you get ten percent of your membership you are a strong church. Do not leave praying to intercessors only. Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing. Acts 10:2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. Prayerless preachers are Satan’s instruments. THE TRENCH, THE WET WOOD AND THE WATER IN THE EQUATION! 1 kings 18:33-35 And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood. 34 And he said, Do it the second time. God was showing the twelve tribes of Israel the hard conditions people who have gone away from the Lord face. The altar has wet wood and the sacrifice is wet. This is the picture of many of us and as well as many churches. The engine of prayer is cold and it cannot start. Did you pray this morning? I am not talking about conscience silencing prayers you make but have fellowship with God. Your altar has wet wood and your sacrifice is wet. This has affected every area of your life. You can’t read the Bible, cannot give for the work of God, cannot evangelize, cannot care for the brethren, cannot find a wife or a husband and cannot find employment. Revive your prayer life, This is a message from your God for you today. You have money but not happy, you have a wife or husband but not happy, you have a business but not happy, you have your own house but not happy, you have children but not happy, you are working but not happy. Prayer is the master key. Go back to Bethel and strengthen your feeble knees. Elijah prayed not to get more money or increase his fame but to lead people back to God. Miracles are meant not to exalt us or give us more titles but to bring glory to God. God will not refuse to perform miracles that will lead more people to him. Check why many people are desiring the miracle ministry and you will discover that it has a financial motive behind. God’s work is not a business but that is exactly what we have made it to be. May God help us in Jesus Name. God is warning those who are selling miracles. You will get the leprous of Naaman if you do not repent. One minister of the gospel was invited to go and preach in America and after the ministration, they gave him $5000. He refused and told them that how do they expect a man like him to receive such a small amount after leaving his church in his country. They now gave him $10 000 and he was happy. God forbid that we call such people men of God. This is the Gehazi seed and may the Lord deliver his kingdom from such in Jesus name.
