THE MONUMENTS MEN: Directed by, co-written by, and starring George Clooney, this started out a little like OCEANS ELEVEN meets the Nazis. But it soon settled in to a well-crafted, well thought-out picture. Based of a true story, it tells of an unlikely platoon of men sent to recover the thousands of pieces of art that the Nazis had stolen. A great ensemble cast with Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Bob Balaban, Huge Bonneville (Downton Abbey), Jean Dujardin (The Artist) and Cate Blanchette make this treasure hunt a pleasure to watch. Very old fashioned movie making in its approach, it will make you chuckle, laught out loud and be moved as well. And there is a nice touch in the final scene that should make you smile. Its recommended as a plain old good movie!
