THE MOUTAINS ARE REMOVEABLE. Once Jesus used an analogy to describe the size or the amount of faith we need to resist or repulse the attacks, activities of the evil one, devil. He said if we’ve the smallest amount of faith like the mustard seed we could move mountains; cast them away to places that we desire. We may ask ourselves the essence and significance of moving a mountain from its original habitation to another place. For what apparent reason? Jesus’ parabolic instruction here is that if we’ve faith in Him and His name we could move chronic, apparent permanent problems that appear like mountains in our lives. When a problem begins to develop or when it first comes into our life, it comes in a very small magnitude. Most often than not, the size of every problem that comes to our life is very small in size almost comparable to the tiny size of the mustard seed Jesus compares to the faith we need to remove the parabolic mountains. However, sometimes it’s man who welcomes problems to stay and entertain them to grow into bigger proportions or prolong their permanent stay to become the mountain that Jesus used as a parable. Just reflect on yesterday or, last week or, last year’s many problems you faced or encountered. Where are they or some of them now? Most of them have faded or gone away on their own. Indeed, some of them we were very terrified to death about them. We never thought we could stand or survive their threat, fear and pressure in our lives for even a second of time. However, by the immeasurable grace He the Lord bestows on us daily we’re still alive and living not damaged or destroyed by the effects and threats of those problems that seemed like the huge unmovable mountains Jesus uses as a parable. Yes the devil exists because our Lord and His Living and Infallible Scripture inform us. However, He who created the devil and on that fateful Friday, also made spectacle of him has given you and I a place to put him, (the devil) under our feet. Something or somebody your Creator and Conqueror instructs you to put under your feet is not a thing or being you should fear and give such underserved respect and attention let alone fear to. If you rest your absolute faith and trust in He who shameful defeated the devil on your behalf then the devil remains defeated. He who was shamefully defeated and conquered that fateful Friday (when Jesus was crucified for you) hasn’t yet recovered to the extent to be able to come back and defeat you whilst your Savior and Deliverer lives. So thus the Scripture affirm: Jesus Christ of yesterday is the same today and forever. Beloved do not allow any man or woman big or small, popular or famous to deceive or threaten you to give the devil the attention he does not deserve in your life. After all your life is not the devil’s or the so-called ‘prophets or prophetess’ whose business is to advocate attention and draw fear to you towards the devil so that they sustain their living and wealth on you. The Scripture has said even though he the devil prowls around like a lion seeking whom that is vulnerable to devor. However, the devil is not the Lion of Judah who keeps His watchful eyes on you, covers and protects you in every moment of your life. He’s not the Almighty but our Lord Christ Jesus is. Jesus did not give the devil His authority but He delegated it to you and me as His new sons of God. It’s very pathetic and appalling to think of the underserved attention today’s Christians give to the devil. When we’ve not been Christians all that we knew was about the devil (obrosam). We knew so much about the devil to the extent that the devil did not even know about himself. What we did not know was about our Almighty Creator Lord, Christ Jesus. And when we’ve become believers we became even more knowledgeable and fearful than ever before about the devil. This time, we give him much attention than he even deserves to the detriment of Jesus whom we’ve yet known anything about. And yet little do we care to know about our Creator, Saviour and Deliverer, Christ Jesus. When we’ve even known something about Jesus we refuse to believe and act on them. No wonder they’ve succeeded to threaten and frighten us daily with warnings and tremendous fears about the devil, he who has been defeated by your Lord and my God, Christ Jesus. Jesus the Christ’s name is above every other name you can think or imagine of. Jesus’ name, of course, is above the irrelevant and incomparable name of the devil. Jesus has said He conquered death the scariest thing the devil scares you constantly with. He has said He defeated the devil and his adversaries. He has said in My name if you believe you can also make spectacle of him, the devil. He has said if you will believe in Me, in My name the devil will fall flat as he did fall from heaven. I pulse to reason with you for a moment. Is it appropriate to believe part of the Scriptures and to disbelieve all or any good thing that the Lord promises or says to you? You see, anything good that God says about you and me is the scariest thing we will ever want to believe. Why because... Could you fill in the gap or finish the line for me? When our Lord had said by My strips you’re healed we went bizarre. What a heck, we said! When He had said you will not be the tail but be the head we hooted at Him that He did not know what He said. In our reply we’ve told Him Lord You don’t get it! Have You soon forgotten about my background? You know, nobody in my family from Koo Manu to Adwoa Mansa, from John Doe to Hosea, from Ibrahim to Yokohoma etc. had never ever been the head but always been the tail how dared you promise me to be the head this time? We’re always at the mercy of others! The lyrics of a beautiful gospel song run in rhythm thus: What He has done for Sarah, Hannah. Rachael, Elizabeth is now my time to receive my blessings. If only you will believe today. If only you will believe, trust Him and in obedience cast your burdens and chronic anxieties, mountains on Him for He says He cares then will you see the deliverance of the Lord in your life. Beloved your God, Christ Jesus so much loves you. Look to Him on the cross with the blood you and I caused to flow from His head dripping through His face. And yet He says to you, “I love you.” Why and how can you now think or imagine that He wants to fail or disappoint you hence He gives you His vain promises in order to cause you pains, burdens and anxieties? If indeed Christ Jesus created the heavens and the earth by His bare Word; and if He can save you with eternal life then He is equally more than capable to fulfil all His promises made to you in His sworn testimony Word, Scripture. Pray than ever before and do not give up on Him and on yourself else the devil your adversary is the one you and I have given him victory over us. Jesus the Christ has said if we’ve the smallest faith as the mustard seed we could remove mountains, cast them away to our desired places. We may then ask of the essence and significance of removing a mountain from it’s original habitat to another place. For what significance reason! His parabolic instruction here is that if we’ve faith in Him and His name we could pray remove the chronic, apparently permanent problems like mountains in our lives. When a problem develops or comes into our life, initially it’s very small in magnitude like the mustard seed Jesus compares to the smallest amount of faith we need to remove mountains with prayer. The devil is very cunning, crafty and strategic. He knows when you lack faith in God. He also knows when you’re double minded in your faith. He surely knows you when your faith is not very solid in Christ Jesus. When the devil knows you to this extent, of course, he will definitely feed on the shadows of all your fears you entertain from him. It’s a known fact that, that red thing we call fire or the heat that comes from it is that which kills but rather, it’s the smoke that suffocates victims that kills. So is fear, the burdens and anxieties, the panics, the fear of failure, the fear of death that generates momentum for the devil’s eventual destruction. The Scripture affirms it when it states: The devil comes only to steal, kill and destroy. How do we avoid or remove mountains in our lives? The answer is to know what your Creator and Almighty Lord has said about you in His sworn promise to you in the Scripture. Then dismiss the lies the devil is feeding you on your fears towards him. Also dismiss the lies and fears that those who should have encouraged you to fortify your faith and hope in the Lord tell you about the devil. The second thing that we should do lies in our fervent and effectual prayers of ‘the righteous man.’ As the Scripture puts it, “it avails much” before the Lord. If some other person prays to achieve or receives result why can you not? Finally, be very sincere and honest to yourself. Then examine your whole life and the time and attention you give to God to read the Scriptures, pray and fast sometimes. In 24/7 can you be sincere that you are able to give to, set aside for God one-tenth hours of your time? May the Lord help you with understanding and even more insights! May the Lord increase your faith! And may the Lord strengthen and embolden with courage and fill you with passion and love to do His will! Amen. Rev. Kwame Ankoma-Amoa.
