THE MYSTERIOUSLY WEIRD HANDWRITING OF JACK LEW, TREASURY SECRETARY The financial titan has come up with a new signature for US bank notes, after his original version was mocked for being too “loopy” and “swirly”. President Obama joked that he considered retracting the offer to make Mr Lew Treasury Secretary when he saw the unusual signature, a series of linked “o” shapes, which bears more resemblance to a “Slinky” toy than to Mr Lew’s full name, Jacob J Lew. “Jack assures me that he is going to work to make at least one letter legible in order not to debase our currency,” Mr Obama said when he announced Mr Lew’s nomination. SHEILA KURTZ a handwriting analyst based in New York, and president of Graphologyconsulting claimed it was one of the most “mysteriously weird” signatures she had come across in 25 years of practice, but that it indicated that Mr Lew is imaginative and could be trusted to “carry secrets to his grave”. Mr Lew’s new signature, which will appear on US currency from the autumn, is much more legible, with clearly recognisable capital letters and two distinct words. Ms Kurtz said they suggested that Mr Lew was a quick thinker, with a deep sense of history. "He sees the present through the lenses of the past,” she said. Related Articles
