THE NEW SITUATION IN AUSTRALIA. PART I ....Australia had one of the lowest debt in the OECD and was untouched by the GFC. The treasurer was named world best treasurer but somehow, the conservative opposition (called the Liberals) convinced a majority that they were going to fix everything. A few months in and they are about to cut just about everything for the middle class and the poor and are using the divide and rule tactic to get us to accept austerity for 5 years. Austerity never brings prosperity! They are pitting young against old, middle class against the unemployed and the disabled, healthy against the sick, as if it was all their fault and the GFC, which needed spending, never happened. Slogans such as Living within your means are a myth! No country or institution can prosper while living within its means. No bank or financial institution, in the world can repay all its customers, if they all wanted their money all at once, for instance....jf
