THE PARABLE OF THE WEED Matthew 13:24-30 A victor is one who has won a battle not the one preparing for a battle! What keeps you from flying in the air is not the devil but gravitational force! Weeds are plants which grow where they are not planted. This means that corn growing in a rice farm is a weed. A weed may not always be harmful to other plants. There are different sources of weeds, some just grow on their own while others may be brought to a place by wind or rain water. One of the major problems of weeds are that they usually compete with the desired plant which were planted and if care is not taken they may take over the whole farm. It is also important to note that when a field is cleared and nothing is planted on it, weeds will definitely grow there. A victor is one who has won a battle not the one preparing for a battle! Though we do not like opposition, it is part of life. Life will be boring if we do not have oppositions. The earlier you realize that opposition is real, the better for you. Ships look so beautiful in the harbor but ships are not made to stay in the harbor. They are made to pass through the storms and ride on the waves of the rough sea. Even when you choose not to do anything, you will still have opposition, why not do something and face opposition face to face because there is no hiding place for you. LESSONS FROM THE PARABLE OF WEEDS This is one of the popular parables of Jesus and it is loaded with a lot of lessons for you; a. There will always be opposition to every good thing. A sign that you are doing something meaningful is the opposition you encounter while working. Just as weed will always grow in a farm, oppositions will never be lacking in everyday living. Keep pressing on despite the opposition. b. Some weeds must be allowed to grow with the plants. There are instances where trying to remove the weeds will damage your plant. Be ready to keep working even in the face of oppositions. c. Some oppositions you will face may not necessarily come from the devil. We are quick to conclude that the enemy is the one behind every opposition. What keeps you from flying in the air is not the devil but gravitational force! d. There is a time of harvest. If you will keep keeping on, a time will come when the opposition will not be relevant again. By the time you get into the moon, the law of gravity has no effect again. By the time you come out victorious, the number of your opponents is not of significance! e. The Devil is already defeated and his only waiting for his judgment Rev 20:7-10, 2 Cor 2:14, Romans 8:37. Whenever the devil comes to harass you, remind him he is under your feet Rom 16:20, Eph 1:22. In conclusion, death, sickness, fire, pain, affliction, trouble, hunger, loneliness, angels, demons or the devil are not enough to stop you . Welcome to your world of complete dominion. God blessed them and said to them, ’’Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’’ Gen 1:28(NIV) God be with you.
