THE PROBLEM WITH RELIGION....................... For more than 10 years my store had no problems on the block it sat in Southern California. Then on the same side of the street came a Gay & Lesbian Church and within a few months was a Black Holy Roller storefront church almost directly across the street. Suddenly we have police problems. Seems the Gay & Lesbians didnt like the thugs (read black rapper types) who had been coming around that area for longer than wed been there. But they blame this undesirable element on The music store attracting them. The Holy Rollers chimed in with their description fo the undesirables that the music store was attracting. Seems our having teen bands for free from 7 p.m. to 10: p.m. on Saturday night were somehow upsetting the delicate balance of their relationship with God. In the end I asked both Church leaders separately if 500.00 a month to each as a contribution to their rent would solve the problem. Seems it would. But of course they didnt appreciate me taping them saying this and the Cops found other things to do.
