THE PROBLEM WITH THE KENYAN CHURCH IS THIS! My thoughts! 1:We have become philosophical in our preaching’s, with no Christ like compassion on the ground 2:We talk of reaching out to the world, but we have not reached those in our Jerusalem and Judea 3:We tell people Jesus loves them, but in reality, we are not willing to be vessels of Christ-like love to those he brings in our midst 4:We have mega projects to build big churches, big evangelistic crusades and big events in big hotels to strategize on how to reach out, but in reality, all those are just mere paperwork, or maybe a way to call for funds to the victims of our extortion in churches, if not donors far away. Amazingly, little of the funds do the work, but a majority is wasted for meetings, allowances tenders to our relatives and friends whom we compel to quote high prices, because Pesa ni ya kanisa! [is church money] 5:We would rather go where politicians are, speak proudly about the said politicians on our pulpits but never talk so proudly about Jesus and his work of grace. 6:We organize and call for breakfast meeting with politicians,if not the who and who of our society, but the reality is,many people in far away communities are dying and going to hell, because we dont care about them, and some even dont have a bible in their vernacular language yet we dont care 7:We talk of Gods love, but it exists only on paper, not in reality. 8:With so many churches in Nairobi that has millions in returns as offerings, if not tithe, and our normal talk about caring for the lost world, the reality is, we still we have a lot of street kids roaming the streets, widows suffering in poverty and neglect, and members of our churches whose kids no-longer go to school, because they cant afford fees in church sponsored schools. 9:We talk of owning schools that has a Christian curriculum for those within our fold, but our fees are far expensive for the church member to afford, leave alone think of it. The church member has no options left, but take his kids to worldly schools, who have a wrong curriculum. 10:We all talk of salvation and nearly every Kenyan is a Christian[80%], but in reality, it only exists on our lips, with no works to support it. 11:Many believers own non-governmental organization whose aim is to transform our nation and the lives of the poor among us.They use that advantage to campaign for funds with donors, but the reality is,such people end up building mansions for themselves, with minimal or no help for the so called poor. Kibera, mathare and other slums own as many NGOS that rarely improve the living standards of the people it seeks to help. 12:We build church sponsored guest houses for our members or Christians who may want to spend a vacation far from home, but in reality, even the members who contributed to their construction, cannot afford a meal in them after church and their family, leave a lone a weekend outing sleep over! Christian families have to troupe to cheaper places where worldly characteristics sway away the minds of their children from the attitude of Christ. 13:We have so many bible colleges teaching and reaching out to so many people in a yr,the reality is,its value has not been felt on the ground. Kenya still remains among the top league nations on issues of corruption, inequality, Nepotism and tribalism 14:Were so loud to talk against tribalism on our pulpits, but in reality, our churches dont have tribal balance when it comes to employment of pastoral staff,if not administrative jobs. Actually, to some, only one tribe reigns, but i ask, how will you talk against tribalism, if all you considered in your pastoral and administrative jobs is your tribe? 15:We talk eloquently about accountability, integrity and fairness but the reality is,if we were to be called to account for everything the church has, owns and the projects the church has,and its pricing,we will definitely be found wanting. 16:We talk to young men and women to marry, but in reality, in many churches in Nairobi, even after paying your tithe and offering to this one church for yrs, you have to pay the church in order to wed, pay for the microphones to be used, pay for the facility and even pay for the pastor[your pastor] to officiate your marriage. Young men and women are now running to the AGS chambers, because they feel its cheap, thus missing on the blessing of a pastor on their marriage .It pains when you find that you have to pay your pastors to officiate some ceremonies like weddings, burial, baptism and etc. 17:Getting a preaching on the reality of hell this days is really a foreign thought, but talk of how to plant seeds before you prosper, how to make it in life and etc is all that is drummed to us. 18:Wah... getting church buses and halls is a tall order and you have to pay a hefty amount of cash to use them. Im not saying they should be free but in reality, sometimes you find a worldly mans offer to use his buses cheaper than what the church has quoted... After all is said and done,as believers, let us be careful on how we do business for and with God.Whenever God wants to judge a nation,he always starts with the church. The time has come for judgment, and it must begin with Gods household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed Gods Good News? [1 Peter 4:17]. God bless you
