THE QURÄN AND THE BIBLE:- The qurån is the scripture of Islàm. It is the Holy book whch the muslms honour in precisely the same way the christians honour the bible. The qurån is the source from whch the muslms community draws the primary prescriptions 4 the regulation of their religiouss activities in the same way the christians community draws theirs from the bible. Each community turns 2 their Holy book 2 find nourishment 4 their devotional life. Both of them passed through various stages of textual history till there emerged a standard text whch came 2 be regarded as sacrosanct. Islåm enjoins on the muslms nt only 2 believe in the messengershp of all prophets but also 2 believe in the messenges whch they brought whch are contained in their books. In this way the muslms believe in the contents of the bible except those of the contents whch the qurån has declared 2 have been corrupted. It will be interesting therefore 2 examine and compare, vry briefly, the two Holy Books in their textual history. The quran was the product of one man(PROPHET MUHAMMADU S.A.W) peace upon him and the others companion, who dictated the contents 2 his scribes who wrote them under his supervision and guidance. The contents are the revelations he received from(ALLAH)and are as such regarded as the words of(ALLAH). The bible:- it is claimed that the bible is an inspired Book. GOD helped and inspired the writers in a special way, but not in such a way that they ceased 2 be men of their time. They wrote in the same way as any one else would have written in those days, Each writer wrote in the way that suited him best. May almight ALLAH bestow peace all over the global amen.
