DISCUSIONS It was the second meeting of the reaching out group and it was held on Sunday 9th November, 2014 at UNZA main campus in Mwanawasa common room 1. 1. OPENING PRAYER The opening prayer was given by Mr. Mushota Leonard. 2. ROLE CAL There were five members present in the meeting; 1. Mr Mushota Leonard 2. Mr Zulu Jackon 3. Mr Kikanda Isaac 4. Mr Mumba Donald 5. Ms Nanyangwe Treries 3. APOLOGIES There were two apologies from: 1. Ms Musambula Thelma 2. Mr Sakala Isaac 4. READING/RECAP OF TH PREVIOUS MINUTES. The recap of what was discussed in the first meeting was done by Mr Mushota Leonard. 5. CHANGING/ADOPTION OF THE REACHING OUT NAME It was agreed in the meeting that the name of the reaching out should be changed to reaching out to the underprivileged (ROTUP). AIM: to reach out to children underprivileged in our society. OBJECTIVES: - to help make our community a better place by transforming the lives of children who are underprivileged for the better. - To equip children who are underprivileged with necessary skills, training, and motivation. OUR MISSION STATEMENT: to show that through kindness and hard work, we can help the poor, and remember that it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35). 6. CHOOING THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE Please note that executive members are not better than any member in our group but for the organization sake, an executive is needed in any group and for us to know the people responsible for each program. SHARING THE DUTIES TO THE CHOSEN EXECUTIVE MEMBER 8. FOWARDING IDEAS OF HOW WE WILL MOVE AS A FAMILY It was discussed that, it is impossible for us to just go into the streets to get any child and enroll into school because street kids are in different categories: (a) Those with parents who send them to go and sell or beg from the streets, it became hard in the sense that parents of those children will not agree to get their child and enroll them into school. (b) Those without parents/homes to stay, it became a challenge because if those children were enrolled into school, there was no place to stay after school. Therefore, it was agreed that before we can think of enrolling our own kids from the streets into school, the following steps will be followed: 1. Identify the orphanage that is not well to do. 2. Help those orphanages by donating things, offer counseling and guidance to the kids in that orphanage. 3. Go into streets to get street kids and enroll them to the identified orphanage. 4. Open our own organization when we get financially stable. 9. HOW CAN WE MEET UP/WORK WITH OUR FRIENDS FROM DIFFERENT TOWNS IN ZAMBIA Since the group is just starting and most of our members are Lusaka based, leadership/meetings will be done in Lusaka. But in whatever we discuss as a group we will be communicating with our friends from different towns. Therefore, as day goes by, we will start opening in the group in other towns and this we depend on how committed we will be to the group. 10. ANY OTHER BUSINESS (A.O.B) 1. How can we generate funds? 2. All the executive members to be made admins on the Facebook page. 3. It was clearly stated that, our group is not a money personal beneficial but individual sacrifice and commitment to the group. 11. ANNOUNCEMENTS There were no announcements. 12. CLOSING PRAYR The meeting was adjourned with a prayer from Mr Kikanda Isaac.
