THE RESULT OF INCOMPETENCE The other day I wrote something - TopicsExpress

THE RESULT OF INCOMPETENCE The other day I wrote something about our minister of “misinformation” telling Nigerians on national news that we have Ebola vaccine and ready for any outbreak. One of my friends made this comment “why do you derive pleasure in insulting people on this platform” he called it an insult. Anyway, I don’t wannna go into that now. Everybody is blaming Patrick Sawyer of Liberia for importing Ebola virus into Nigeria. Some even blame the Liberian government for allowing him travel out of Liberia to Nigeria. Now who do we blame for a Nigerian nurse who had contact with Sawyer and yet under the nose of the health minister, left the quarantine in Lagos and traveled to Enugu state? I am telling you now from a reliable source (better than that of the information minister) that one week after, the health minister called this lady himself to come back to the quarantine and the lady told him she was at a wedding, yet no attempt was made to retrieve this lady. The next thing was that “she is under surveillance” over the phone?? Gosh! Must innocent Nigerians keep paying with their lives the price of incompetence of our leaders/public office holders? Here is the implication; this lady had contact with people in Enugu who possible were passive (going to another state through Enugu). Assuming some of these people travelled to Onitsha, you know what that means? We are talking about a business center where the whole country travel to and where most of them doesn’t even understand what you mean by personal hygiene or other precautionary measures. As I speak to you now, her husband has disappeared into thin air; you also know what that means. Now my question is this, if we could not contain this virus in Lagos alone, how do we intend to contain it nationwide?? I just want Nigerians to expect the worst cos we are strictly on our own. The only reason they are trying to get busy with nothing now is cos there’s a sound of N1.9 billion naira in the air. Africans are good in exercising “faith” and “praying” but leaving out experts precautions. This lady probably went to look for a strong man of God to pray for her, faith in action, but my bible tells me that “faith without work is dead” Ebola outbreak did not start yesterday, it has been there. What advice or otherwise did the health minister give to the president as regards preparation for the calamity? What was the country’s preparation and readiness incase? Nothing of course, a blind man leading another. Doctors have been on strike for how long now, (a situation that would have been averted if we had a health minister instead of a dummy). With 1.9 billion signed to fight Ebola, I saw the “theatre gown” they said doctors should wear as protection against to go and handle ebola victims, and then you pay them 5000 naira as hazard allowance, what a shame on the giant of Africa. Until adequate protective gadgets are provided for health workers to handle Ebola victims, I cannot in good conscience ask doctors to go back to hospitals and commit suicide. Whether Onyebuchi Chukwu wants to resign as health minister with the little honor left for him or continue as a failure is his choice. As for me, I’m already on my way to Borno state cos that the last place any Ebola victim will think of going cos nobody wants to die. Even if anyone comes, there would be limited spread compared to Enugu, Onitsha and Lagos, since there’s restricted movement in Borno state, hahahahaha. God help Nigeria!
