THE RIGHTS OF A MUSLIM UPON HIS BROTHER(SISTER):The prophet (saw) said:The rights of a muslim upon the muslims are six(6) :Visiting the sick,to accepts invitations,to help the oppressed,to fulfill the oaths,to return the greetings and to reply to the one who sneezes and when he dies to follow the funeral procession.(Muslim). (1) PEACE GREETING AND RETURNING THE GRRETING: Greating is one of the ways of spreading the love between muslims and of entering Paradise. The prophet(SAW) said:By the one in whose hand is my soul, you will not enter into Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love each other. Shall I not direct you to something tha if you do it, you will love each other? Spread the greeting of peace amongst yourselves.(Muslim). Moreover, sayingASSALAM ALAYKUMPeace be upon you is the greating of peaple in the Paradise. Allah says:And those who kept their duty to their Lord will be led to Paradise in groups, till when they reach it,and its gates will be opened(before their arrival for their reception) and its keepers will say :SALAMUN ALAYKUM(peace be upon you)! you have done well, so enter here to abide therein.(surat az-zumar,39:73). Aliah ordained us to return peace greeting in the same or to increase on it as Allah said:When you are greeted with a greeting, greet in return with what is better than it, or (at least) return it equally.(surat an-nisaa,4:86). (2)REPLY TO THE ONE WHO SNEEZES:The prophet (saw) said:If anyone of you sneezes,He should say ALHAMDULILLAH(praise be to Allah), and his (muslim) brother or companion should say to him,YAR-HAMUKA-LLAH(May Allah bestows his mercy on you). When the latter says yar-hamuka-llah the former should say,YAHDIKUMUL-LAH-WAYUSL-BALAKUM(May Allah give you guidance and improve your condition). So the one who sneezes and replier both will get the blessings of the invocation. The messanger of Allah used to cover his face by his hand or cloth and lower his voice when he sneezes(Tirmidhee). (3)VISITING THE SICK:Ali bin Abu TALIB(RA) reported: I heard the messanger of Allah saying,When the muslim visiting the sick muslim at dawn, seventy thousands(70,000) angels keeps on praying for him till dusk. If he visits him in the evening, seventy thousands angels (70,000) keeps on praying for him till in the morning; and he will have (his share of) reaped fruits of jannah(Tirmidhi). Also prophet(saw) said:When a muslim visits his sick muslim brother, he will remain in the garden of Paradise until he returns.(Muslim). (4)FOLLOWING THE FUNERAL PROCESSION:The prophet (saw) said:Whoever attends the funeral procession till he offers the funeral prayer for it, will get a reward equal to one QIRAAT, and whoever accompanies it untill burial, will get a reward equals to two QIRATS It was asked what is qirat? He replied like two huge mountains (bukhari&muslim). (5) HELPING THE OPPRESSED MUSLIM IN TRUTH:The prophet (saw) said:Help you brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one. People asked: O Allahs apostle! it is all right to help if he is oppressed, but how should we help him, if he is an oppressor The prophet (saw) said:By preventing him from oppressing others.(Bukhari). It is clear from this tradition that helping the oppressed muslim in actuality has two meanings. (1)Helping oppressed by standing beside him infront of the oppressor as much as we can and supporting him either by life, money or invocation untill he returns his rights. This action will be rewarded greatly by Allah. The prophet (saw) said:Allah helps his servant as long as the servant help his muslim brother.(Bukhari). He (saw) also said:A Muslim is a brother of another muslim, So he should not oppress him, nor should he hand him over to an oppressor.Whoever fulfills the needs of his (muslim) brother, Allah will fulfill his needs, Whoever brought his (muslim ) brother out of a discomforts, Allah will bring him out of the discomforts of the day of the resurrection, and Whoever screened a Muslim, Allah will screened him on the day of resurrection. So helping and supporting the oppressed means protecting his honor or defending him by giving him money and charity to support and strengthen him in his distress, or by invoking Allah secretly to help him and to remove his distress as prophet(saw) said:For any Muslim who invokes Allah secretly for his muslim brother, an angel will say the same is for you.(muslim). (2)Helping the muslim who is the oppressor by preventing him from oppressing others, by standing infronts of him and stoping and by invoking Allah to guide him to the righteous way. Helping the oppressed in this way means helping the whole society, spreading safety among them and driving harms back even if this required fighting him (oppressor) until he stop his oppression. Allah said:And if two parties or groups among the believers fall to fight, then make peace between them both, but if one of them rebels against the other, then fight you (all) against the one that rebels till it complies with the command of Allah(surat al-hujrat,49:9). Preventing oppression leads to avoiding corruption, spreading justice and equality among people and spreading tranquility and peace among the people. So that strong people would not oppress weak people.WALLAHU AALAM
