THE RIVER OF DEATH Long, long time ago, in a certain village bordered by a dangerous river, there was a big problem. People were dying at a very alarming rate. The villagers were dying because the river was infested by man eating crocodiles and also the overflowing waters that driwbed the people who were crossing. They were advised to place some men strategically by the river side to help raise alarm whenever there was a problem. Their role was to rescue anybody drowning or being captured by the crocodiles. They could also call for reinforcements from the village. Two men were then given this role. This strategy worked very well. For some time, the rescue mission was successful and many people were saved from drowning or being eaten by the deadly crocodiles. It was a welcome idea. But something also happened. As the men were keeping watch, at times they would feel cold. They decided to collect some firewood and lit some fire by the riverside to warm themselves. They began to feel warm. Some of the people after crossing the river, wanted to be warmed. Soon they decided that instead of just wasting firewood, they could prepare some tea to keep warm. They also made a decision that they will offer this tea to the villagers at a small fee. Another villager decided to bring some mandazis to help take the tea. Slowly the place started to turn into a restaurant. People came and sold. The men decided to go into full business. It was thriving. But, then, the people began to die again. Children were drowning and women were being eaten by the crocodiles. Sadly no one cared any more. They were more concerned with their businesses than the original mission. They were more concerned about the tea and mandazi than a child being eaten by the crocodile. No one cared about the drowning. No one raised alarm. And people began dying again. The rescue mission turned into an entertainment spot and a business center. THAT IS THE SAD STORY OF THE CHURCH. FROM A RESCUE CENTRE FOR THOSE DYING OF SIN, TO A RESTURANT. AND ONCE AGAIN PEOPLE ARE PERISHING AND DROWNING. IGNORED MISSION.
