THE SAME IMAGE But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:18). You see, originally, “…God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them” (Genesis 1:27), that man should function on earth just like Him. He made man to portray His nature in the earth, to manifest His glory on earth. But by reason of sin, man fell down from the glory of God; He inherited another nature, and was as thus turned into another image. For he was created to be righteous as His Creator is Righteous: but he received the lies of the father of sin, and by that became a sinner, he hearkened to the wicked one, and like an impartation, received the nature of wickedness. “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). “Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life…Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin” (Romans 6:4-6). God sent His Word to manifest in the flesh in order to take away that sinful nature that man inherited from the father of sin; to reinstall His image in man, “Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will” (Ephesians 1:5). “For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son…” (Romans 8:29), “Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins…” (Hebrews 1:3), gave us His life and nature of righteousness, that we should be like Him. That’s why it is so vital, for the Christian to understand why the Apostle Paul said what he said in Romans 12:2, that, “…be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Why must you not be conformed to this world? Because, the Lord you have accepted over your life came purposely to disconnect you from the world; and He told you that, “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but…ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world…” (John 15:19). Therefore, “…put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness” (Ephesians 4:22-24). That’s, the Christian, being in Christ, hath received a new nature, which is the nature of righteousness-the image of God: and the old things, which is the sinful nature-the image of sin hath passed away; and all things have become new-the Christian hath received the life and nature of God, being made conformable to the same image of the Son of God, who is the express image of the Father. Again, what the Christian need to be aware of is that, we were saved to be metamorphosed into the same image of Him that saved us. He did not save us to leave us still walking in our old ways, but He saved us, so that we should walk in a new way. And we can only walk in a new way, by being transformed against our old way, by completely turning our back to the old way; to focus on the new way. For example, when you were born according to the flesh, you were born into a generational curse, or whatever curse you might have heard of. But now, you’ve come to Christ, and the bible tells you that, “…ye are called…, that ye should inherit a blessing” (1 Peter 3:9). You don’t stand again in the presence of God, and be praying to God to deliver you from any curse that is against your life, neither do you fast to break out from any curse, else, you will still be walking in the old things, even in your mind, struggling to break free from something that you’ve already been delivered out of by Jesus. One thing that the Christian must understand is that, the Christian can never know who he is, until he knows who Christ is. For Christ is our standard set by God for us, that we should look at Him, and see who we were called to be-Christ is our model. The Apostle John attest in 1 John 4:17, that, “…as He (Christ) is, so are we in this world.” Meaning, we were born by the Spirit of Christ, to be as Christ-His representatives in the world; to function in the earth exactly as Himself, even as He said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father” (John 14:12). Now, how do you function exactly as Christ in the earth? Firstly, you need to understand that, as we were saved by the Word, so are we transformed by the Word, and the Word is Christ. So the Word transform us into Christ, the Word make us conformable to the same image with Himself. Secondly, you have a role to play, He tells you that, “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you” (John 15:7), thus, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom…” (Colossians 3:16), that’s, put the Word of God in you in all ways; feed so much on the Word, that, your body begins to act the Word automatically, because, the Word has become all that you know in life. James 1:22 tells you what to do, “Be ye doers of the Word…” and 1 Timothy 4:15 teaches you that, “Meditate on these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.” Think of this; your knowledge is the power that determines the life you live. Knowledge takes a man into a certain realm, making him conformable to something-a product of that particular information acquired. Knowledge is acquired information. Information is the power that controls the nature of man. God’s Word is God’s information. Therefore, if you must be transformed into the same image of Christ, who is the Word, then what must you do? This is more spiritual. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. You know that the Word of God is the mirror through which the Christian sees himself. So the more you look into the mirror, the more you get to know who you really are, to live as such. Finally brethren, the revelation of this message is to attest to who you really are in Christ, you are the image of Christ in this world, you are called to represent Christ, you’re his ambassador in the earth, and you have the same life and nature as He, even as you have His Spirit living inside of you, making you able to function in this world exactly as Him, “According as His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:3-4).
