THE SANCTUARY This topic will be presented in 3 parts (INTRODUCTION (Part 1), SANCTUARY SYMBOLS (Part 2) and THE PRIESTHOOD OF ISAREL and CHRIST (Part 3). The format for each part is: Lesson and Test Question. PART ONE (INTRODUCTION) The Purpose of the Sanctuary It all began in the Garden of Eden “Adam and Eve heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the time of the evening breeze.” Genesis 3:8 Genesis 3:4, 6, 7 But Eve listened to another voice - the voice of the serpent, and ate of the forbidden fruit. Then she went to Adam with the forbidden fruit, and he ate of it also. Genesis 3:22, 23 So God had to send both of them out of the Garden of Eden, Because… Isaiah 59:2 He said; “Your iniquities (your sins) have separated between you and your God, “and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” 1 John 3:1 Even though man had sinned, God still loves sinners! “Behold, What manner of love the Father has shown us, THAT WE SHOULD BE CALLED THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF GOD.” Exodus 25:8 And because of that love, He told Moses, “Make Me a Sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.” Meaning: Make a place, that I can be near My loved ones again! Exodus 25:8, 9 God gave Moses the Blueprint for building the Sanctuary, and then said to him, “Make me a Sanctuary after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments, used in all the services. Because He had special plans for the Sanctuary, besides just being able to be with His people! God wants everyone to know how much He loves them, and the best way to show His love, is in the Sanctuary! John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son…” And in the Sanctuary – WE CAN… John 1:29 “Behold Jesus, as the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” That is why the Bible tells us… 1 Corinthians 10:11 - Now all these things happened unto ancient Israel, and were written down for our admonition, speaking to those of us UPON WHOM THE ENDS OF THE WORLD ARE COME. What happened to Israel – is to show us God’s Love, and how He is going to make us family again! Daniel 8:14 Is God’s promise to you and me! “Unto 2,300 days(/years), then shall the Sanctuary (in Heaven) be Cleansed” – AND THEN, Jesus said: When there is no more sin… John 14:3 “I WILL COME AGAIN And… “…Receive you unto Myself: That where I am, there ye may be also.” SUMMARY… 1 John 3:1 No matter our age – We are all part of the Family of God – From Adam and Eve, to You and Me!
