THE SON AND ANTI-CHRIST John the Evangelist gives an important warning regarding the recognition of the Anti-Christ, which is based Jesus sending the comforter, which is the Holy Spirit according to chapter fourteen of John: 25All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. And the Spirit of Truth according to chapter fifteen of John: 26 “When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me, 27 and you will testify also, because you have been with Me from the beginning. From this it is important to note that Jesus was also a comforter according to chapter two of 1John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. From this it is important to note the Greek transliterated word ‘paraklétos’ is rendered as advocate, whereas in John 14:16 it is rendered as comforter. Now according to Strong’s Lexicon, 3875 paraklétos means: (a) an advocate, intercessor, (b) a consoler, comforter, helper, (c) Paraclete. Therefore when Jesus said he would send another comforter, he was explaining that this one would be different, hence Jesus is an advocate for our sins, whereas the one Jesus would send would be the Holy Spirit, which is synonymous with the Spirit of Truth. Now the recognition of the Spirit of Truth is shown in chapter four of 1John: 1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world So the recognition of a true prophet is a confession through the spirit, which if it is a Spirit of Truth, the prophet would acknowledge that Jesus Christ came in the flesh, whereby showing the prophet was sent from God. Now if the spirit was a Spirit of falsehood, the prophet would not acknowledge that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. From this it is important to note the apostles were from God also according to chapter four of 1John: 6 We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood. Now according to the above verse, the Spirit of Truth is recognized through the acknowledgment of the teachings by the apostles, who were upon the teachings of Christ. Therefore if anyone accepts their teaching, the apostles recognize that was the Spirit of Truth dwelling inside a person, whereas if anyone does not listen to the apostles teaching, the apostles recognize that it was the Spirit of Falsehood dwelling inside a person, and is therefore making that person the Anti-Christ. From this it is important to note the apostles further explain that loving one another is a sign of knowing God, and therefore being born of God, which is according to chapter four of 1John: 7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through him. Now as this love comes from God, the apostles explained that this love is conditional for knowing God, hence God showed His love by sending ‘his only begotten son into the world that we might live through him’. Therefore eternal life is based on God’s love which is further explained in chapter four of 1John: 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. From this it is important to note the apostles taught that because of the love God has for us, He sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Now as eternal life is also based on acknowledging the teachings of the apostles, if anyone denies that Jesus is a begotten Son of God, or denies that Jesus is an atoning sacrifice for our sins, this is our recognition that they are the Antichrist, and therefore a false prophet or false teacher that does not possess the Spirit of Truth, but instead the Spirit of Falsehood.
