THE SPOILS OF VICTORY By Vic Armijo June 19, 2014 City Dock, Annapolis, MD. Early today Christoph Strasser returned to City Dock here in Annapolis to collect his trophies. The 31 year old fastest RAAM finisher ever looked quite a bit fresher and had his voice back. Yesterday he of course received his medal and today he received his engraved plaque and the coveted crystal Pete Penseyres Award that each RAAM is presented to the fastest male rider. Strasser was also honored by the mayor of Annapolis Michael J. Pantiledes who issued a city proclamation that made June 14 “Christoph Strasser Day.” A beaming Strasser proudly accepted the proclamation certificate and said “I am so honored. I am just a little bicycle racer from a small country, Austria.” One other very important item was bestowed upon Strasser—German chocolate cake ice cream and strawberry cheesecake ice cream due him and his crew from RAAM Media One.
