THE STATE COP – INTRODUCING A MAJOR CHARACTER from the upcoming release, “All-Around and the 13th Juror.” Larry Irwin, an Oregon State Police trainee, stopped by the Cinnabar Lounge to have dinner and toss back a few beers. Before the evening played itself out, Larry got in a scuffle with John Hudspeth, a prominent mill owner in Prineville, and that put him on the wrong side of Mac Griffith and a group of cowboys drinking at the bar. Larry’s younger brother, Monte, stated, “From what I’ve heard about Mac Griffith, and what I know for a fact about my brother, the two of them were a lot alike. They drank and they fought. That’s what they liked to do. And when Larry drank, he was Jekyll and then he was Hyde. His personality changed; from what I hear it was the same with Mac Griffith. Why did those two square off and fight? Because neither was willing to back down or give an inch. It was not in their makeup to ever take a step back. They were like two gunslingers meeting in the street. To be the man you thought you were, or the man you wanted to be, you made your stand, and you lived or you died.” At the Duane Harvey murder trial, according to Monte, Larry was persuaded to testify to something that never happened. To learn what occurring that dark night in the parking lot behind the old Ochoco Inn, and what happened at the trial, read “All-Around and the 13th Juror.” Purchase your autographed copy by calling 541-447-3115
