THE STUPID CUPID Chapter-48 [♥] --------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------- --------------------- Hey pumpkin! What’s the problem? Neil asked firmly pressing her shoulder. Neil. Answer me one thing honestly. Myra looked at Neil plainly. Of course pumpkin, I’d answer. Can’t we talk about it in the car? Neil asked. No Neil. I’m comfortable here. Myra spoke curtly. What’s the matter pumpkin? Why are you behaving so strange? Neil asked. Neil, I’m seriously fed up of each and everything. I just want to know the truth. Myra looked at him intently. Ask pumpkin. Neil gulped the lump in his throat. Neil, did you pay mausi to keep me there? Myra asked. Who told you that? Neil asked stunned. Neil this was not the answer to my question. Just tell me yes or no. Myra spoke. Yes. Neil sighed. Why Neil? Myra spoke in a hoarse tone. Though she wasn’t crying yet her eyes showed a storm of twinge. Neil held her hands in his hands. Myra, I told you na. I’ll tell you each and everything when the right time comes. Not now please. Neil spoke earnestly. Please Neil. It’s bothering me. Myra grunted. Okay pumpkin. Here’s the truth. Pumpkin, I was scared of my step-mom’s threat. I had already lost Kunal, I can’t afford to lose you. You already know that I’ve to join the company as soon as possible. And I can’t be there with you every moment. I was scared that she might harm you in my absence. And I don’t want to face anything like that. I came up with the solution of keeping you at your mausi’s house. I paid her. I held all your expenses and she agreed. I know this was the best way. This way she won’t be able to harm you. I’m sorry to put you in all this. But I can’t help myself. I’m so sorry pumpkin. Neil spoke in a broken voice. That’s it Neil? You know what I went through in your absence? You know how I spent my days? You know how much I cried? You know how much I missed you? Do you know even a single thing? Damn it. I feel so silly to agree to you. Can’t you understand a single thing that I can’t stay happy without you. And when I can’t stay happy what’s the point of being alive or being dead? Myra yelled at him. Ssssh. Neil placed his palm on her mouth. Myra just kept looking at him. Tears were brimming in her eyes. The same pain was being reflected in Neil’s eyes. He felt an immense pain piercing his heart. If only you know. If only. If it was hard for you pumpkin then it was the hardest for me. Ask me, how I used to stole glances standing below your window. How secretly I used to admire your face when you would stand by your window looking at stars. How I always used to distract myself from thinking about you. How I always stopped myself from meeting you. How I suppressed that urge of hugging you. How I held my tears thinking about you. How I stopped myself from messaging you umpteen times in the day. You think I don’t care about you? I never had my meals unless I was sure you had yours. You think your happiness doesn’t matter to me? I tried my best to keep you happy, but if the matter is about your security then you can consider me rude or harsh, I don’t care. I can do anything to keep you safe and secure. You can’t stay happy without me? You are my life, I can’t live without you. Damn it! Neil blabbered. Myra kept looking at him. She was speechless listening to him. All the time, she thought of her pains, her miseries, her life, her problems. ‘How could I be so selfish? How could I miss the fact that I mean everything to Neil? How could I not see what Neil was going through? How could I not see the pain hidden in his eyes? How could I possibly say that he doesn’t care for me when all he ever did was babysitting me! How could I be so rude towards him? How could I not try to understand him? How could I hurt this guy who always wanted to see me happy? How could I?’ Thought flooded Myra’s mind. She pushed herself further and crashed in his arms. She draped her arms around his waist resting her head on his chest. She could feel the warmth of his tears dripping down his throat. Please Myra. I want to be alone for few minutes. Neil pushed her gently. No. I’m not leaving you even for a second. Myra spoke hugging him even more tightly. Please Myra. Please. I’m your culprit. I know I can never keep you happy. I am not worthy to be with you. Neil spoke in a hoarse tone. No Neil. Don’t say like that. I’m sorry that I hurted you. I never intend to do that. I was just so pissed off with everything that I blurted rubbish. Myra spoke. Let me go Myra. Please. Neil pleaded. Would you do the same if I was at your place? Myra asked raising her head to meet his eyes. No. Neil softly shook his head. Then please. You’ve always been there for me when I needed you. Now it’s my turn. I am the reason behind your tears na. I’ve let you go once, I can’t afford it again. Let me be with you for a while. I promise I won’t bother you. Myra spoke innocently. You never bother me idiot. Neil spoke placing his arms around her shoulders. I’m sorry. Myra spoke. I know you never intend to hurt me baby. It’s okay. Neil buried his head against her neck. Myra shivered as his warm breaths touched her nape. You’re cold. Neil muttered. Now I’m better. Myra smiled. But don’t think that I’ve not forgiven you for disappearing like this. Neil grimaced. I’m sorry na piggy. I just wanted to stay alone for some time. I even talked to Kunal bhai. I won’t do this ever again. Myra spoke. Haah? You talked to Kunal? Neil asked confused. You know I was kinda depressed and alone. I came to the park and was remembering all the moments I spent with bhai. I was missing him very much. And I don’t know when I dozed off at the bench and then there was a dream. I saw him. He talked to me. He told me that he wanted to see me happy. He told me to let go. He asked me to fight. I’m feeling good now. I feel relaxed. Myra smiled. Ohh pumpkin, don’t ever pull such stunt again. I’m happy that you’re happy. Keep smiling like that. Neil touched her lips. When you’re there I’ll always smile. I know how much you and Kunal bhai want to see me happy. Myra replied. Now let’s go home pumpkin. I’m so hungry. Please na. Neil made a puppy face. Ha You din’t have your lunch? Myra asked. You don’t have the right to question me this when you yourself din’t have your lunch. Neil pouted. How the hell you know this now? Myra grimaced. You’ve always been the ‘let’s not eat food’ whenever you’re upset or angry. Need I say more? Neil chuckled. Haah! Why you always surprise me by telling me things about me? Myra asked. Because, I love that expression on your face when you smile secretly hearing this. Neil winked. Aah! Such a devil you’re. Myra impishly hit him. And would love to be always to see this smile. Neil raised her chin and pecked on her cheeks. You know how many girls dream of this type of guy? Myra chuckled. I don’t know about what girls dream. I just know you’re the type of girl no one can even dream of having. Neil cupped her face. Taareeef. Eeeeeee. Myra chuckled. Hahaha. Happy now? Let’s go now. Neil pulled her. How about a short rain dance? Myra’s eyes widened in excitement. Now? Neil asked shocked. No no, I’m talking about 2 decades later Myra grimaced. Hahaha. Okay drama queen. You’re becoming very sarcastic these days. Neil pulled her cheeks. Myra giggled with her cute smile. Sing some song idiot. Myra spoke as she placed her hands on his shoulders. Ye saajish hain boondon ki, Koi khwaahish hain chup chup si.. Dekho na dekho na Dekho na dekho na Hawa kuchh haule haule, Zubaan se kya kuchh bole Kyu duuri hain ab darmayaan Dekho na dekho na Dekho na dekho na.. Neil sang a few lines and pulled her closer by draping his arms around her waist. Not bad. Myra giggled. Phir na hawayen hogi itani besharam Phir na dag mag dag mag honge yeh kadam Haa saawan yeh seedha nahi khufia bada Kuchh toh baraste hue keh raha Samjho na samjho na samjho na samjho na. Myra sang softly as she swayed her body to the rhythm of the raindrops. The soft shower was soothing. Drenching not only their body rather their souls too. Myra closed her eyes and moved closer towards Neil. Neil looked at Myra. Her face was looking even more beautiful with the soft moonlight showering upon it. Water droplets were froze on her face and some seemed like they were racing to touch her lips. It was an exquisite moment. He wished the moment to freeze there. He wanted to suck the droplets from her lips but somehow stopped himself. Let’s go now Myra. He softly whispered in her ears. Hmm. Myra broke the contact and nodded. Soon they clambered inside the car. Neil pulled out the jacket from his back seat. This? Myra asked. I knew that you’d be drenched in rain. Neil spoke and covered her with his jacket. And what about you? Myra asked. I’ll manage. Neil replied. Don’t be a macho. You’ll fall sick. Myra grunted. Do I have any other option? Neil grimaced. Yes. You wear this jacket. Myra made a puppy face. Don’t argue with me now. I’ve been in rain for a while only and you were there since 2 hours. Neil pointed his finger. Arre. Neil. You know I don’t easily fall sick. Myra pouted. Neil glared at her. Aachu. Suddenly Myra sneezed. Now don’t you dare arguing with me. Keep quiet and chain up the jacket. Neil threatened her. Myra looked intimidated. She has never seen him so much angry. She looked at him jaw- dropped. Neil sighed and closed his eyes. He breathed in and breathed out sharply. Then he leant towards Myra and pushed her hands in the sleeves of the jacket and zipped it close. I don’t want to fight but baby, I can’t see you falling sick again. Neil spoke softly placing his hand on her cheek. Myra nodded like a child. She knew that Neil cared for him intensely and could even scold her for not taking care of herself. She smiled at the way he always thought about her. Neil started the engine and soon they were inside their house. I’m impressed. The house is so well managed. Myra chuckled. Hahaha. I always tried to keep it clean in case you come. I never wanted to waste your time managing the house you know. Neil shrugged. That’s very sweet of you Neil. Myra exclaimed. Chalo, you get fresh. Till then I’ll cook something to eat. Neil smiled. You too change first. Myra spoke. Arre I’m perfectly okay. Neil chuckled putting off his shirt along with his soggy vest and threw it aside. Neil !! Learn some manners puh-lease! Myra shrieked. Umm. Okay. I’ll wear the shirt if you’re not comfortable. Neil made a face. Haha. I was just kidding idiot. Myra laughed and quickly picked up the towel lying aside on the couch. She pressed it against his chest soaking the water. Neil looked down at her. Her wet hair were all messed up spiking out in a straight manner. I’ll do this pumpkin. You go and freshen up yourself. Neil spoke. Aye aye captain. Myra quickly scrubbed the towel on his head and then turned throwing the towel on his face. Oye! Neil called. Hahaha. Aaachuu. Myra sneezed again. Oh god. Go NOW. Neil scolded. Neil quickly changed his clothes and went into the kitchen. Myra took a brief shower and changed her clothes drying her hair. After she turned back to the kitchen she saw Neil busy. Yumm. Delicious smell. What are you cooking? Myra asked. See yourself. Neil grinned as his dimple adorned his cheek. Myra peeked from his shoulder. Eeeee pakode. !!!! Myra cheered up. Yeah. It’s raining so I thought why not cook some pakode. Neil spoke. Haaaye. Pigggy, you’re seriously a wonderful cook. I envy you for being so perfect. Myra grimaced. Just stop complaining now and enjoy the weather baby. Neil chuckled. Myra nodded and started making arrangement in the corridor of her balcony. She pulled a small table along with two chairs and kept them there. Soon Neil arrived with a tray containing some snacks and hot steaming mugs of coffee. Nothing can be better than this! Myra giggled. Yes, it can be. Neil smiled and pulled her in his lap. Shish. Neil, which type of movies you watched in my absence. Myra chuckled. I don’t know. Neil giggled. Myra fed him snacks and they sipped on their coffee chattering and blabbering while enjoying the rain. Myra slept in his arms while Neil’s words rang in her ears. I just know you’re the type of girl no one can even dream of having. I’ll confess that I love you Neil. I don’t care about the consequences now. Myra thought to herself. **To be continued** So the countdown has begun! Last two more parts NiMy are going to be together. But how? How will Myra confess her love? How will Neil react to this?
