This would mean: Qualified medical herbalists would no longer be able to legally prescribe herbal medicines. The skills and wisdom of this caring profession could be lost for ever. Public access would be lost to most herbal medicines. Increased reliance on pharmaceuticals and NHS resources. Unregulated herbal medicines would be sourced over the internet. The legal situation is complex. In essence, herbalists urgently need the Government to grant them the ‘Statutory Regulation’ they have been working towards for over a decade.
