THE TRUTH ABOUT HALLOWEEN ***I really felt led to share this even though some/many may be offended, but I didnt create truth, God did. (Im just sharing it...)*** Although for the past 2 months my son has been BEGGING and WHINING because I wouldnt allow him to go out on halloween, Trick or Treating, I stuck to what I know to be truth and we are not going tonight. He and I have discussed that as Christians, there are things we could do to shine Christs light through all the darkness, such as, handing out candies with scriptures on it, or handing out tracts. I believe many Christians go out on halloween because they say we are to be in the world and not of it, (and because many just dont think about what halloween represents,) however when you look exactly like the world by part taking in what is evil, then not only are you in the world but you are also of it (and you are teaching your kids to be of it). If you take evil, and stick a little good in it, it isnt good, its still evil. We must be Hot or Cold but not lukewarm. Halloween is either for God or against God. I was challenged by my aunt to ask my son, What part of halloween honours God? Little did I know the questions was for me. As I got to thinking about it I COULDNT find ONE thing about it that honoured Him. Below are some of the things that halloween promotes (although there are many more unlisted.) In my opinion, any ONE of the reasons below is One reason too many why we should not part take in it. -Halloween promotes GREED. By teaching our kids to be generous givers and then knocking on doors to give me, give me, give me, we are hypocrites. Yes there is a place to receive humbly but halloween is a day for pure selfish gain. The mindset of the child is MORE MORE MORE! -Halloween promotes GLUTTONY. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. We must take care of our bodies and not teach our kids that stuffing your face full of candy is acceptable. Yes, while many parents control how much candy the kids get per day, the goal of the child is still, SUGAR SUGAR SUGAR! We are teaching our kids that they have a right to run after instant satisfaction instead of stopping and thinking about the ramifications of what that food does inside our bodies. (Diabetes, Cavities, etc.) Yes many will say Well its just one day of the year. But to a child, they dont see things that way. They think if you allow them to do it once it must be okay all the time. -Halloween promotes SELFISH AMBITION. We learn in the bible that we must lay down our life if we want to follow Christ, we must take up our cross. The world offers just about instant everything but Christ teaches us to die to ourself and our desires. Halloween teaches us that we can get what we want it and that we dont have to work for it. FREE FREE FREE for ME ME ME! If anyone hasnt noticed, many generations, including mine, are being raised with an entitlement mentality. I deserve... Im not letting my son go out on halloween because I would be a hypocrite when I tell him You dont always get what you want. and You have to earn it. when he asks me for things. -Halloween promotes WORSHIPPING DEATH/DEMONIC. If you havent noticed, skulls and skeletons are everywhere, and Im not just talking about around halloween. Clothing, music, backpacks, earrings and more, they are on just about everything. I believe this is a way Satan is sneaking death into the world so that we become tolerant of evil. It says in the last days good will be called evil and evil will be called good. The light and the darkness must become separated, not co mingling so that you cant tell which is which. We must stand out FAR from the darkness not co mingling. Sure you dont have to dress up your kids as skeletons or devils, however by taking part in something where other people do, you are condoning their behaviour and not standing up against it. If you are not against it, then you must be for it. Its a case of HOT or COLD but we are warned not to be lukewarm! (Rev 3) IF you have bothered to read this far, I would appreciate it if you see my son tonight at the Awakening , to uplift and encourage him by affirming my decision. Even though he may not be fully understanding of my decision yet, he needs to see that we must look different from the world. There is such a strong pull on our kids lives to be pressured into the things of this world. I am my sons Mother first, accountable before God even if yet again he has to hear the word NO. I believe he will see over time that my words and my actions with regards to my faith are lining up. Many children/teens talk bad behind their Christian parents back because they see hypocrites. They see parents who tell them to do the good things of the bible, when it comes to rules for the child, yet they see their parents living a double standard when it comes to how they live themselves. Then they take this God thing as a joke because their parents are not really serious about it. These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. Matthew 15:8 Friends I challenge you to take this to heart, and be Hot or Cold. BE ALL IN FOR GOD, or all out against God. Jesus Addressed the CHURCH when he said, IF you REMAIN Lukewarm, I will spit you out of my mouth. I love and care about you, but most importantly I care about your eternity.
