THE UNIQUENESS OF TAAL The difference of Taal,Batangas among other towns is that, for every period in Philippine History, there is a representation of the architectural trend at that time spanning more or less 200 years. No architectural design are the same or just within a particular era. Perhaps Taal is the most diverse in terms of architecture and even interior design in the whole country. In other words it is not monotonous. The people of Taal is known for their industriousness, being enterprising and pioneering in many ways and for every descendant of each old clans they build houses with a different architectural taste depending on the trend of that time. From the late 1700s,early 1800s,mid 1800s.,late 1800s,early 1900s,1920s called the Roaring 20s,`1930s which i call the Commonwealth Classics and even up to the post war era of the 1940s,50s and 60s. Taal still has around 80 plus ancestral houses and thats a lot for a little town. Not to mention that the figures in Taal are heroes of national importance, not just local ones. Taal boasts of the largest Catholic Church in Asia,The Shrine dedicated to the First Marian Apparition in the country-Our Lady of Caysasay and to different heritage cuisines and industries most notably to the Embroidery and Balisong which are world-renowed. Note- Next week I will make a series of posts showing other houses in other Batangas towns including middle-class houses which are now slowly being demolished to give way to modern houses for Batangas has one of the highest number of OFWs.
