THE WATCHMAN Subtly,subtly it calls your attention Slowly,slowly it defiles your consecration Your heart is covered with its deception Its appears like green snake under green grass Hard to discern,hard to resist Your inner resistance gradually waters down The altars fire gently goes cool Its suggestion is for your destruction A little time spent on carnal thoughts Reduces the holy fire burning in you A little time spent on indulgence Makes Mr Flesh powerful Though it always seems unharmful It may not be your definition of sin But whatever increases the power of flesh Right above your redeemed spirit Whatever weakens your reasoning Reduces your relish for spiritual things No matter how unharmful let it be sin to you I f you must daily conquer sin You msut employ yourself as a watchman A watchman over the gate of your heart You must resist intruders in your bosom Send them parking like exposed criminals Yes! you can do it The power of Christ is in you Engage the spirit who dwells in you If you must daily live a holy life Your heart must be far from Gods holy throne Recieving grace and mercy to help in evil days Raisung spiritual songs shouldnt be far from thee For that pleases the spirit that dwells in thee Speak in spiritual language For that strengthens the spirit in thee Gradually,gradually you became a master You become a mastery in purity You heart begins t rise to alpine heights Brighter and brighter unto the perfect day
