THE WINNERS AND LOSERS OF OUR COUNTRY: MIGHT GENERATIONAL STRUGGLE - TopicsExpress

THE WINNERS AND LOSERS OF OUR COUNTRY: MIGHT GENERATIONAL STRUGGLE BE THE CRUX OF THE ISSUE? A youthful nation, one assume is the character of Sierra Leones population: more young, energetic, educated, intelligent men and women of the society. It is never like yesterday when only the few knew the happenings around the world or what constitute their rights and obligations in the society, but a largely exposed population that clearly understands the environment. In summary, they have it, therefore cannot brush them off neither easily predict or take them for granted. This is how I saw my country in todays environment. What I may hesitate to count is the leadership traits of our young population: how many truly have it to effectively stir the ship of our country amidst the destructions we have incurred? Some, because of the genuine fear that they might not make it if they are to lend support to a generational change, have allowed themeselves to be co-opted into the wreckages of the old wagon and now see their brilliant suggestions and ideas aligned to that very awkward past of the country. The question possibly would be: who is winning or losing as the country slide further into fragility? There may be no winner at all, notwithstanding the level of power you have under your sackcloth. As long as there is the majority out there dissatisfied, unfairly treated, or neglected, the back and forth of those challenges remain insurmountable. We inherited a war and at the close of it many argued should usher us into an era of new beginnings: beginnings all had expected should prevent a revert to our yesteryears, beginnings people expected to enjoy fair treatments, equal opportunities, human rights, and all those freedoms, beginnings expected to preserve the dignitty of man, but then, where are they now? Where are the values of a society? Unending challenges you mean or a society where people entrusted with public resources secretly convert into theirs at the expense of the majority who were to get the benefit? Why are people so deliberate in their thinking? We can always give credit to our Auditor Generals Deparment for doing a good job, for letting us know how the greedy hands of men plunder public resources. Mans insatiable greed for riches has polluted everything about us, the once good men and women of the society no longer have the usual audacity to restrain themselves from being part of the clique. Hahaha....Ive called them the smartists: so quick to run to others and accuse them of not being patriotic or nationalistic, when in their kitting are many dusty rags. Man, be yourself, who else is better qualified? Nobody certainly. It doesnt suggest a mortgage of your personal life to your country, rather it makes a demand on all of us to fully honor our national obligations in a sincere and honest way. I have read the many predictions people have made about the future direction of our country, good for them. They know what some of us dont know. Equally so, we have what they are not privy to, but certainly we are set for a bunch of surprises. God willing, Sierra Leoneans will get the changes they want. As citizens, we are indebted to that country because it is the source of who and what we are. God bless you all.
