THEFT OF POPPY DONATION BOX York Regional Police is seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in the theft of a poppy donation box in the Town of Aurora. On Friday, November 7, 2014, officers attended the Canadian Tire store located at 14700 Yonge Street following a report that a poppy donation box had been stolen. Security cameras captured images of the suspect being dropped off at the store shortly after 9 a.m. in an older model red Chevrolet Aveo or Pontiac Vibe that was missing a front right hubcap. The suspect entered the store and walked to an unattended cash register where he picks up the poppy donation box, conceals it beneath his coat and exits the store. Investigators are releasing an image of the suspect as well as the suspect vehicle in the hopes that the public can assist with identifying this man. Suspect Description: • Male, white • 5’11”, 235 lbs. • Heavy build • Moustache • Wearing a black coat, navy blue shirt, dark-coloured pants Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7141, or to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS, or leave an anonymous tip online at 1800222tips, or text your tip to CRIMES (274637) starting with the word YORK.
