THERAPY THURSDAY (late edition): This late edition of TT is brought to you by a two day jaunt to witness the final leg of Leave It On The Road (LIOTR), an incredible coast-to-coast bike ride that raised over $40,000 (and counting!) for colon cancer research and awareness! Click on the name for all the details, but in a nutshell that two crazy and incredible young men, Andrew Hudon and Mike Tabtabai – neither of them survivors themselves, but both have lost loved ones to cancer – rode 3,359 miles in 24 days on bicycles for US! And their message is one that we all should bear in mind: learn from the past, take the lessons and inspiration from those in your life to shape and guide you, then leave it all on the road and keep pushing forward. I’ve often said that, considering I didn’t die, cancer was the best thing that ever happened to me. I usually mean that in terms of the incredible changes to my perspective on gratitude and embracing the present, and to my physical and financial turnarounds. But today, I say it for the people it has brought into my life. I am here to say unabashedly that Andrew Hudon is my friggin’ HERO. Leave It On The Road is his FOURTH major ride for colon cancer, and I was lucky enough to meet him at the conclusion of his 2010 “Resilience Ride”. He has inspired me every day since then and to see what he has accomplished, and how many lives he has touched, makes me so proud of him and honored to call him my friend. I ride now myself because of Andrew, and much of what has appeared on these Therapy Thursday posts is a result of incredible conversations I’ve had with him. So if you get a chance, send Andrew H and Mike some love, some thanks, and maybe even put a few dollars toward the cause. They are riding for every one of us, and I’m mighty proud to have had them carry our honor. ~Andrew E leaveitontheroad
